Orange Sofas

If it were only suntan lotion, it wouldn't be too bad. But I was thinking of other, um, fluids. Ick!

;)

well...next time you go to a friend's home (let's say a friend with a really good marraige or relationship and who thinks 'outside the box' so to speak), I'd like you to think about the possibility of fluids.

:p :D :p

Maybe you should sit in their kitchen.

Does anyone else find the orange sofa in the cabins absolutely disgusting. Sticks to you when you sit on it, could they not use a more subsued color/?

Nope, does not bother me, but you may want to sit on a towel or something when sitting on it, then you won't stick to it.

... The thought of a cloth upholstered sofa kinda grosses me out. I mean, do I really want to sit there? Ewwww. Who knows what was happening there in the past.

:(

i agree, ewwwwwwwwww, and what about sweat and wet bathing suits. oh yuck.

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, askin' for a towel...:p

seriously, the traffic in the friend's home is nowhere near the traffic in a ship's cabin. they cld never get a fabric couch and expect it to be moderately "sanitary."

and, other "couch deposits" aside, i at least know my friends don't have any gross skin disease or staph infections or anything else like that being wiped all over the fabric.

But then again if it's a great relationship ....ya might have to rethink the kitchen too!!!

I love decorating ....and I like more neutral colors in my home ....but the color or vinyl will NEVER deter me from having fun ...anywhere I am!! I have yet to see the rooms ...but I KNOW I am going to love it ......no matter what color it is. In fact, I just can hardly wait to see that orange!!! Is it too soon to pack?????

There is NO safe place to sit. :D

I can't imagine you'd let a little fluid bother you TC. :p

Seriously, I never sit on the sofa in the cabin anyway. I'm either in the bed or on the balcony.

And if I did sit on it, I'd surely have clothes on and then I wouldn't worry about fluids. If I was nekkid on the dang thing, THAT would be an issue. not to mention just wrong..... *gag*

I think I'll start a poll on how long it will be before CC# starts a poll on couch color. ;)

As long as there is blue water around the ship, no other color matters.

You got that right...and please don't start a poll. :p

Hmm, I don't think of the couch as orange, I think of it as peach, or possible apricot. It is definitely not the bright orange of the 70's, nor the rust of the 60's.

Actually, peach and aqua are said to be the colors that are flattering to the greatest number of people, so maybe they pick them because they make your cabin mate look yummy!

most of my relatives still have plastic covering their couches:rolleyes: :D

we haven't sailed yet, DS spied it and asked where the pull down bunk was...little does he know we have a cabin built for 3;)

it never crossed my mind that steward wouldn't put "bed linens" on it, including a bottom sheet so he doesn't slide off during the night:eek: make my day, please!

Could be just bad decorating.

But there could also be some thing more evil at work there.

Ages ago..focus groups, marketing people put their attention towards psychology of groups. Fast food restaurants adopted garish colors and purposely uncomfortable seating. This brought people in..attracted to the bright colors..and got them out quickly for turnover.

Casinos also use this..but to make you stay longer. No clocks, so you lose track of time..Disney uses the same methods for crowd control. Color, music, noise levels..bring people in quickly..then they move on making room for other customers.

Carnival doesn't make as much money if you in your room. They want you out and buying things, drinking. shopping, going to the spa...etc.

Maybe color choice is on purpose? Just a slight hint..to leave the room.

I don't mind the color, but do agree on the vinyl. I guess it's for durability and cleaning as to why they use these and not fabric. However, with the comfy beds I think they should also incorporate a comfy couch (at least for some of us bad husbands out there):D

I agree the orange sofas are pretty bad. But I won't even get into what I think about some of Carnivals ship decor:cool: The cost outways the decor.

It cracks me up when I read people say I never spend time in my cabin anyways so it doesn't bother me. And those are the same people that say they would rather sail Carnival because they have the larger cabins:rolleyes:

One Friday I'm at work and DW calls me. She's all in a dither. She tells me that this new dude who moved in across the street has painted his house orange. She says it's awful, and one needs sun shades just to walk out the front door of our house. I get home to find the guy has indeed painted the entire house the same color orange as the Carnival sofas!! Digusting! He didn't clear the color change with the homeowners assn. It's now a very pale pastel yellow. So, a festive orange sofa on a cruise ship isn't so bad, compared to an entire house. :)

Hey halo,

Have you heard the difference between nekkid & naked? Naked is having no clothes on, nekkid is having no clothes on and up to something! ;) You can use you imagination about what. :p

28 more days 'til the Valor, and I just can't wait to see that ugly orange couch! Even it can't ruin my cruise!

 you're right, halos...

in that I would not have told NCTribeFan to sit in the kitchen of his/her friend's house b/c his thoughts about a "fabric" couch on a cruise ship used by thousands of strangers a year was silly.;)

it's laughable (to me) how some people are actually miffed about the orange couch. i never even gave it a second thought. but someone raising the fabric issue, does make one think.
