Solo Celebrity Cruisers - Mercury or Infinity?

Roz

Recommended Posts

Hello to Lois and other solo Celebrity cruisers. I'm looking at a 13-day Panama Canal cruise on the Infinity and a 14-day Panama Canal cruise on the Mercury. Pricing is the same, so the only difference is I get an extra day on the Mercury.

I've read a bunch of CC ship reviews, and it seems like Infinity gets more positive reviews than Mercury, but I also know to take reviews with a grain of salt.

Any firsthand experiece/advice you can give me is much appreciated.

Hi Roz:) would love to go with you....have 3 others booked though;)

Mercury is smaller and I LOVE her very much. Sailed her 5 times:D

Love the ship, staff, crew...everything. It is smaller and older

but everytime I step back on her I always feel at home.

I have not sailed Infinity but have been on her sister ships...they

are the larger ones. I enjoyed all my cruises on them too but

Mercury holds a special place for me.

To be honest, I put a deposit down for a shortie on Infinity

for the end of 2008.....I want to at least sail her once:)

It will put me on all of the X ships at that point:D

Lois,

Thanks for the input. Right now I'm leaning towards Mercury. Smaller ship, and I'll get an extra day for the same price. Also, the itinerary I'm looking at on Mercury sails over Thanksgiving. That's 4 less days I would have to charge to my annual leave. We "working girls" :D have to take these things into consideration.

You are preaching to the choir girl;)

Just so you know, she is 10 years old...but I love her!

And yes, she seems to always get mixed reviews:eek:

I can only give you my experiences..all have been wonderful:)

Roz, I've sailed solo on both Mercury (to Alaska) and Infinity (through Panama Canal). I loved both ships - you can't go wrong with either.

Go w/ Mercury if you get an extra day on her (not to mention the holiday days where you won't use vacation time). Loved Mercury's casino - I hit for a thousand bucks on the dollar wheel of fortune.:)

Do try for a balcony, if you can. The public decks get so crowded during the canal transit. I was fortunate enough to have an aft balcony on Infinity, and it was awesome:

Rox,

Thanks for the comments. A balcony is out of the question for me. The only way I can sail solo is to book inside cabins, or the occasional outside if they're running a promotion or special.
