Wow!

Now we're getting somewhere!

Check out the new images on the Celebrity Solstice homepage. Lots of new images of the interiors and the sun deck and I must say that my sort of negative feelings of the ship after booking a cruise on her has turned 180 degrees. All the hype Celebrity has been creating gave me high hopes of a totaly new way of building cruises ships, but when I initially saw the first releeses of the ship features as cabins then I was very dissapointed.

Now I feel I've done the right thing to book a february 2009 cruise with her. She looks fantastic! Inside and out. What a pooldeck! Contemporary design in all the lounges (except Michaels Club - where else!) and a very European style that will further set Celebrity apart from the other mainstream cruise lines. In a other thread about getting Cirque de Solei back someone thought that since they also hired people in the food department from Vegas that the Solstice and Celebrity would create a ocean going version of Las Vegas. Well look at the images and everyone can see that it's not the case.

I respectfully beg to differ about that. After "Danish Modern" came to my head while looking at the drawings of the cabins, "Vegas Ultralounge" was what popped to mind next and stuck there with the public areas, but that's definitely not a bad thing in this case!

And yeah, I'll third (or fourth) the "Wow!" I'm impressed and I want to walk all through the real thing. Maybe I'll revisit the Solstice CC member cruise thread...

Michael's Club looks beautiful, the Solarium looks amazing as does the main pool, and the casino does look very Borgata (here in NJ) with its patterns of machines. The cruseline looks like it is going to cash in too with the arcade of shops right along the open casino plan.

There appear to be some new lounges and lounge ideas that are being introduced as well.

Interesting ship for sure.:)

I like what I'm seeing so far but then I like that type of design, so I'm happy that I have booked the inaugural cruise. It won't appeal to everyone, but since it's not the only cruise ship to select from, in my opinion it's nice to have the variety.

Looks like a beautiful ship. But.....is it just me or do those lounge chairs in the Solarium sit almost on the ground? Also, it appears that it is wall to wall loungers with very little space for people to move around. I for one hate when I have to literally climb over bodies to get to a chair. Ideas or opinions?

I think the overall feel is height and an open expanse in the Solarium area particularly. I hope it is built to the scale of these renderings as I find it quite impressive.

The Casino area with its sexy feel and gaming table core with the placement of machines out to the open aisles that are the shops is an incredible idea and very Borgata here in NJ.

The new lounge venues decidely define that this ship will have more public areas to chose from than any other in the fleet.

I think it going to be the sleekest ship on the seas and I can't wait to get on it. I think its going to be just amazing!

Mom took a look and was feeling kind of 'sniffy' about it -- she's not a huge fan. I, however, am intrigued, and am glad we are booked for February of 2009. The suites look *gorgeous*, I am now considering upgrading from AquaClass!

I don't understand why people are saying they dont like it. I guess it's all a matter of personal opinion. I, for one, think it is beautiful. There is an eclectic mix. I oversee a group of hotels and this reminds me of them----pushes the envelope, but it isn't so much that it is over the edge. I'm sure when all is said and done, it will be a beautiful ship to cruise on.

True Story: We were updating a main lobby in one of our buildings and we have a glass two story atrium that the architect planned some very unusual lighting fixtures to place into it and fill the space. Well the owner was so nervous about the fixtures because as he said, they were so "George Jetson". They were, there was no doubt about that, but once they were installed they were perfect and he was glad he took the leap.;)

I'm new to Celebrity. We've booked an AQ cabin for March '09. Now that they've released the deck plan info, it looks like the Resort Deck (pool & chairs) is directly above our cabin in the Penthouse Deck.

Am I understanding this correctly? Should I switch to a different stateroom further back? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand all the "white." I'd think all the white furniture will tend to get dirty pretty easily and be tough to keep looking, well, white.

I see lots I like but we should remember that it's still early and what furnishings will ultimately look like could change between now and the finished product.

It is fun to follow the progress, though! :)
