Thanks Cass!

I'm on this cruise next Nov so I'm excited to read what's coming down the road.

What type of room are you in? How is it? Which side of the ship is best for viewing the port from your room?

Thanks and keep it up!

:-)

Hello again from an absolutely beautiful day in the Med. We awoke this morning to temps far different then we have seen so far on this sailing. Even first thing this morning the balcony door was opened and the warm air and sunshine were allowed into the mini suite. I had packed half a dozen sweaters for this cruise and have yet to wear one yet. My leather jacket and scarf/gloves have been enough on the cool morning and then shed in the afternoons. But this morning it was time to drag out the new Princess port T's I purchased the other day and even slip on the one pair of sandles I packed. As said, a beautiful warm day here for the end of November.

I awoke very early this morning thinking about Egypt and so looking forward to tomorrow morning when that dream finally becomes reality. We are on the 1st bus to Cairo with Vicky, Tony, Cass, Ms. Dolly, Anubi and the group that has posted back and forth on our roll call for all these months. Hazem will also be with us and we are looking forward to meeting him and his wife in less than 24 hours.

So far the ship has been great, and although I had not been to a show on a ship in years, we have found there are some new ones onboard this time. (reason for not seeing one in years is they seemed to repeat from ship to ship with the same shows). Tonight is another new one, so, I might have to join my DH and see this one also.

Casino luck did a bit of a turn-a-round last night and luck was on my side. It was nice to come back with a bit of winnings in my pocket this time. :)

Italian Night last night and the food was quite good. Most meals seem to be a pleasent surprise so far onboard. Thankfully all the miles and miles of walking will keep us from putting on too many pounds (all the clothes still fit if not a bit looser than they were when we started, at least for me).

Need to run for this time, but will try to check back in again after the overnite. Oh, before I forget, Vicky managed to arrange a dinner for us under a tent with a bit of entertainment for the evening at the hotel. We are really looking forward to the light show and then the dinner, which should put a perfect end to a hopefully perfect first day in Egypt.

My best to everyone from the Star Princess.

PS-BurBunny, will do! ;)

Thanks to you all for taking the time to post LIVE. Those who know me also know that I love to do this from my respective cruising. I've been kept abreast of the weather situations since I too have a close buddy on board with you. :)

We were to have done the Royal cruise but had to cancel for sundry reasons. Had even taken Vicki's advice and contacted Hazem. However, we are now contemplating doing a "land cruise" to Egypt in May, most likely with Grand Circle. Since we've done the Med so many times I'd like to concentrate wholly on Egypt, Luxor, Aswan and the Nile cruise.

Hope the weather stays comfy. Hi to Casshew, Toto, Vicki, Tony, et al.

Cass - you must be using a lot of your internet minutes to do this wonderful thread. Are you elite with loads of minutes? We are just platinum for the first cruise so we do have free minutes. I think it would be great to either start a thread when we get onboard or see if someone else from the Azur4Sure CC group wants to. Obviously those who are landlocked appreciate it!

Hi there, I'm in a mini suite on Emerald on the Port side, my views have been great - I would have to say port is best - at least it has been so far everywhere we have docked. :)

Casino luck did a bit of a turn-a-round last night and luck was on my side. It was nice to come back with a bit of winnings in my pocket this time. :)

Uhhh... I must have missed that! lol

Toto - I've been doing all my sea day walks ALONE, what happened to you coming with me? :D

Cass - you must be using a lot of your internet minutes to do this wonderful thread. Are you elite with loads of minutes?

Hi there, no I have not been using many minutes, I just check in with my hubby and here... not spending too much time so far.

I met tlc (our soldier from Iraq) the other day at Bingo of all places :) Glad to see he made it on board in Athens and will be with us tomorrow in Cairo.

I met Cactus Kids the other day at Trivia in the Explorers Lounge and then we watched Princess Millionaire together. Still so many more people to meet from Cruise Critic.

Today was a nice warm sea day, as Toto mentioned, I was up in Skywalkers this afternoon and saw lots of bathing beauties on the upper decks.

We went to Tequilas last night for supper, not bad - but wer weren't overly hungry so we didn't have appetizers or desserts, just the steak. It was pretty good but I would have to say the GOlden was better.

Tonight was the buffet, they had some great chicken curry.

Tomorrow we are off on our overnight, thanks again to Vicki for putting this all together, and how is this for impressive? a little bird told me she also put together a private excursion for Princess Crew tomorrow! :)

I'll be offline until after Alexandria.. see you then!

Hi Cass

I have been following your Roll Call for this cruise, since March of 2007, as my DH and myself along with 15 other friends are going on the October 5 2008 cruise on the Grand Princess. It has been great reading all the posts and great info. We are signed up for the Cairo Overnite with Laura and a few of my friends are on the 2nd Bus with Linda.

Can't wait to hear how your Overnite and the tours all turn out.

Please say Hi to Vicki for me, as I have emailed her a few times for some info regarding Hotels in Rome. (Tell her Sandy M. cc name Lady In Pink)

Glad to hear you are all having a great time. Also, So glad to hear Vicki and family were upgraded to a Family Suite....

HELLO ALL!

Finally awake this morning enough to post after the overnite in Cairo.

I have only one word that can describe the trip and that is..................

WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!! AND DOUBLE WOW!

OMG, it was the most amazing two days of touring we have ever had on any cruise in our lifetime. From seeing the pyramids for the first time, to the camel ride we took down to them, to the special dinner Vicky had arranged for us that evening (with wonderful Egyptian entertainment) the Le Meredien, which was a great hotel, the lunch cruise down the Nile, and so many other breathtaking experiences there just aren't enough words in the English langauge to describe the experience. Or enough time to tell you all about them while I am clicking down the minutes here onboard the ship.

Let's just say it was so great that we are considering booking this same cruise again next year for almost the same ports. ;) Yep, it has been that great! Myself and a few others are already working on my DH trying to convince him this would be the thing to do AGAIN!

The overnite was very exhausting for some and they are really dragging their behinds today, some I have yet to even run into and many have eyes that resemble little slits. lol But it was so worth every second of the trip. I am actually fine. Didn't even hit the bed until after midnight last night and back up at 7:00 AM this morning bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Hazem and his wonderful wife showed us the time of our lives, thanks to Vicky and all the arrangements, which I know were really trying on her at times to keep it all organized with so many on this private tour (103 if memory serves me correctly).

Things went a lot smoother this year Vicky said, much better than last when it comes to boarding the buses and leaving Port Said. The buses were comfortable (with a bathroom, thank goodness :)). Within a few minutes of boarding the buses, the caravan was off. The security was amazing and never once, not once, did we not feel totally safe and secure. For anyone worried, don't even bother to give it another thought, there are guards and protectors everywhere on this tour.

Trust me, when we get home, I am sure there will be so many reports on this overnite you will get tired of reading them. lol So, for this time, I will just again say it was the best of the best land tour in over 35 cruises for us, and that is really saying a lot as we have has some great ones over the years, but none that even could come close to what we experienced with this.

When I return home, and have a few days to get myself together, I will post pictures with details and answer any questions I can for anyone looking forward to this in the future. Those who have this booked for next year, if your excitement is building, you haven't felt anything yet, not until you see in pics of what you have to look forward to.

OK, I am off again. Sorry that it is so difficult to put into words right now, but I am still completely overwheilmed at where we were and the things we have done the last 48 hours, my brain is totally boggled!

I don't think I even have to tell you, we are having a fantastic time on this cruise.

Tonight we are taking friends to Sterlings for their 30th anniversary so it promises to be a great night onboard the Star Princess.

Hope you all are well and if I don't get back on the board before we leave the ship, I will check in as soon as I get home.

Cass- ON NO- I totally forgot about our walks, you should have knocked on the door. Sorry girl, I think sometimes I go brain dead onboard a ship. ;)

Or maybe it was because after walking dozens of miles in port, my brain blanked out any idea of taking one more step than I needed to. LOL

Again, I really apologize, I totally forgot we were supposed to hit the tennys and do the daily walk together. :( Please forgive me.

Have been looking in on this and anxiously awaiting word after the Cairo overnight!

OMG this is my dream trip and in fact DD (14) has made me promise to take her to Egypt some day. I think this is definately the way to do it.

Can't wait to hear the details!

Thanks SO much for taking the time to share your experiences with us!
