brovol Posted February 3, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 3, 2008 i downloaded my e-tickets for the 3/29 gem sailing. we are booked in an ab penthouse, but there is nothing on the downloaded materials which even suggests priority boarding. that is an important perk, and i am worried that we wont be recognized as priority at the pier. likewise, nothing on my tickets says that we are latitudes. are my material the same as all other penthouse suite passengers, or is something wrong? salty dingo Posted February 3, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 3, 2008 You can use the latitudes check-in line. Just look for a sign or ask someone when you get to the check-in area. Your booking should reference your latitudes number - if it doesn't you can cal you TA or NCL (if you booked direct with the cruise line) to have that added. stingray195 Posted February 3, 2008 #3 Share Posted February 3, 2008 In addition to Brovol"s question above (sorry did not want to start another thread) does anyone know the difference between “Priority Embarking” for suite rooms and “Latitude Member” special check-in. Also, if are daughter and her friend are traveling w/us but are not staying in a suite room can they board w/us using the “Priority Embarking” perk. Thanks for the help. Don't worry your cabin # is all that is needed to get you into the VIP boarding area and check in. brovol - The difference ? VIP goes first with the concierge helping with check in at stations dedicated to penthouse passengers. Latitudes go next and use the Latitudes lines for check in. Sometimes the regular lines are shorter. Little in common.

I've received an email from NCL extending VIP amenities to me as compensation for their inability to provide a sign language interpreter for me. I will be staying in an inside cabin. Will I still be able to use the Concierge? What other amenties do VIP's recieve??
gym2 Posted February 3, 2008 #6 Share Posted February 3, 2008 Brovol, We were just on the Sun, 1/12/08 booked in a Penthouse cabin. When we arrived at the Port in Miami and entered the Terminal there was a long line of passengers checking in. We stopped a NCL rep and said we were in a penthouse and where do we go to check in. He pulled a list out, found our name and escorted us to a room where check in occurred. It took all of about 10 minutes and they even had coffee, tea and snacks available if you had to wait. We were on the ship in no time at all. It was the smoothest embarkation process we have ever experienced. Also - don't hesitate to use your concierge for any dinner reservations! We never had a problem getting a table at the restaurant or time that we wished to dine. Have a great cruise! gym2
tarps14 Posted February 3, 2008 #7 Share Posted February 3, 2008 Deaf Dude-I would be sure and print out that email to take with me onboard. Things can get misplaced and I wouldn't want you to be questioned in any way about your right to the VIP perks. Something tells me that with you being in an inside cabin, somewhere along the way, someone (i.e. any and all staff) is not going to be aware that this compensation has been extended to you and may inadvertently deny your request. Just a little heads up so you can enjoy your cruise as intended. ;)

We were booked into an owner' suite on the Star last month. We had never been in a suite before. The only thing we had that said we were VIP was our boarding paper with the suite number on it. We were taken from the check-in desk to the consierge to be escorted onto the ship. We didn't say anything to anyone before that so I don't know what would have happened if we had. We were so excited we didn't care anyway. Enjoy your cruise.:)

Susie51 Posted February 4, 2008 #10 Share Posted February 4, 2008 We were in Owner's Suite on Majesty in Jan. this year. In Charleston there was no separate line for penthouse guests.

Show it to an NCL rep at check in - you should be with the first group to get onboard. You should also receive VIP tender tickets (which are only of use if you want to go ashore in a tender port on your own, i.e. not with a ship's excursion) and VIP luggage tags for disembarkation (on the Dawn that was the first group to disembark after express). Further you may receive tasty treats in your cabin, get an invitation to the captain's VIP party and should have access to the Concierge. Hope you enjoy your cruise :)
sunrise&set Posted February 4, 2008 #12 Share Posted February 4, 2008 Also, if are daughter and her friend are traveling w/us but are not staying in a suite room can they board w/us using the “Priority Embarking” perk. Thanks for the help. DH and I initially booked one room (AE) for the Dawn 3/23. Then we decided to take DD and a friend and they are booked across the hall in an inside cabin also. We asked the NCL rep when we booked it if they would be able to do the priority embarkation with us and they told us "yes".

In adddition to what others have said to ensure boarding goes smooth, also check the stuff on the bed and in the cabin first thing, there should be the concierge Dining booking form and the invite for Cagnies B/fast & Lunch if that is being included in your VIP and any other info on complimentary offerings. My experience is that once you are on the list for amenities it is not a problem on board.
