discriminate by looks?

If so, these two girls probably won't be boarding a Carnival Fun ship soon:

Two attractive 18-year-olds claim they were escorted off a Southwest Airlines flight for being too pretty, TampaBays10.com reported.

University of South Florida student Nisreen Swedberg and friend Sarah Williams said the flight crew was rude to them from the start of their flight from Tampa Bay to Los Angeles on Feb. 14, TampaBays10.com wrote.

“I think they were just discriminating against [us] because we were young decent-looking girls. I mean, nobody else on the plane looked like us except us,” Williams told TampaBays10.com. “[The flight attendants] were like older ladies. We were younger. Who knows, they could have been just jealous of us because we were younger.”

Southwest defended its actions, saying it was the women who caused a disruption on the flight. They were released about two hours after the plane landed, and no charges were filed.

Don't hate me because I'm beautiful...

I would be willing to bet those girls got treated poorly (?) because they came on there thinking there were supermodels who deserved special treatment or something...

I watched the report on CNN and thought "HUH?"

These girls were OK, but far from being beautiful.

I watched the interview on TV and it sounds like they were some "Paris Hilton and company" wannabe's and when they didn't get the VIP treatment on Southwest Airlines, they got an attitude, which ended up getting them thrown off the plane.

funny story. Wasn't it southwest airlines who denied boarding to a female passenger who was dressed scantely?

True, though she didn't appear to be dressed very scantily at all to me (she was shown in photos in the infamous outfit).

I fly SW a lot, and I've seen many beautiful girls onboard. I've not observed any of them being treated differently.

From what I heard they were using some very foul language and there were families on the flight that were unhappy about.

I agree, not near as "pretty" as they think they are! Pretty is as pretty does!

Well, if they were cussing around people, than pretty or not, THAT is ugly!!:(

Yeah I thought it was how they were dressed, like really scanty clothes? Not sure, I scanned the article quickly and then kinda blew it off as stupidity.........I don't think that you will have to worry about being discriminated against for being pretty, carnival can't see you when you book, can they? :p

Omg Sherri I know, you'd think we were ancient (I'm your age) my son thinks I'm older than king tuts tomb:rolleyes:

Happy Sailing, Carole

I have a daughter that is very beautiful and traveled with her a lot when she held state titles. The flight attendants were always very nice to her. But, she always had a smile for everyone and never expected to be treated differently even though she had to travel in "full dress".

But, last summer on our way home from our cruise a flight attendant was quite rude to her for no reason. This didn't go over very well with her husband. He's only 6'4" and about 275 lbs of muscle - and so when we got of the plane he just stopped at the desk and asked what he could do about the situation. He filled out a complaint and then Frontier gave them a $100 voucher.

I was furious and wanted to say something to the girl but my daughter didn't want to make a scene. We couldn't think of any reason that she acted this way except that she was having a really bad day and took it out on my daughter! It was our first and probably last time we will ever fly with Frontier though.

The way I hear it, Southwest Airlines doesn't take any ***** off anybody. Act drunk, you aren't flying Southwest. Speak rudely to any staff, you aren't flying Southwest. The part that get's me is that CNN and the other media spent time on this kind of crap. IMO, it's not news worthy!

I saw the story on FOX last night and they were used the F word and swearing a lot and wouldnt stop swearing and Southwest asked them to make their language more family friendly is their story.

Any time you create a stir you will probably be meet and escorted off the plane these days furthermore.

Not one word originally the girls claimed they were just too pretty, this is new today.

What is it with Southwest Airlines and people getting kicked off?

They didn't exactly get "kicked off". When the plane landed at its destination, they were escorted off by law enforcement, detained, questioned, and finally released. That's how I interepreted the news story anyway.

Some people seemed to think of air travel as public transportation; that they have a "right" to be on the plane and behave any way they please. Not so. The airlines can make their own rules for expected behavior (or dress) and can enforce these rules. WE have a choice as to which airline we will funnel our dollars.

I had a friend in highschool that got totally beyond the point of drunk....

He stood up, stumbled aroud and relieved himself on a passenger a few rows back...

they landed the plane immediately, arrested him, fined him heavily... he didn't remember a thing...when they told him the next day what he did , he couldn't believe it.

maybe he was just too pretty as well :D
