NCL/Harrah's Partnership?

Today I received an electronic questionnaire from Harrah's asking, among other things, my opinion on various cruise lines. Harrah's asking my opinion is not unusual as I have been a Total Rewards member for many years and they send questionnaires out about once a quarter. One of the final questions asked how I would feel if they partnered with NCL casinos. Bet here is that an announcement will happen soon on this. As someone who enjoys gambling while on vacation, I believe that this could improve the NCL casino product for gamblers (sportsbooks?). Time will tell...

That would be FANTASTIC! I have been a Harrah's Diamond for a while now and never use my points really. I was thinking about switching all my AC business to Trump because of their relationship with NCL (I would retain Harrah's Diamond in Vegas), but now I wouldn't have to split my play!!! Please oh please let it come to fruition!

My mom can stay at Harrahs hotels for free. Would she be able to get comped for NCL cabins as well?

It is just amazing watching some of these message threads.

The OP mentioned a survey asking an opinion. It did NOT say that they were going to do anything.

Next thing I read is that someone wants to know specifics of a Harrahs/NCL program and free rooms. Just amazing.

By the way, it would be great if they did develop a program and relationship between Harrahs and NCL.

I was asking more as a general idea as I have no idea how something like this would work. My siblings and I are sending my parents on the Majesty to Bermuda for their anniversary. Since this will be their first sailing on NCL, I want them to like NCL. If this gives my mom more reasons to sail NCL, great!

it would be nice if it just added more to my diamond card...i can get all the comps i want on land, but to keep my level of play up while on the ship, would be nice. booking through the harrah's travel center could get interesting.

maybe the casinos (on the ship) will start issueing comps for dinners, again? they have been very tight with those. last cruise, the casino host said they weren't allowed to comp to the specialities dining, any more.

They are purchasing Harrahs for $26 BILLION with Texas Pacific Group.

Great point pooh. My understanding is that Apollo is a 50% owner of NCL and complete owner of Harrah's. Makes even more sense now.

the only problem I have with this: I happen to be one of those who absolutely can't stand anything to do with Harrah's. I bet if this were to happen I could learn to love Harrah'sl.

I hear ya. I was not happy with Harrah's at all for a long time. I had a great host at the Venetian who would bend over backwards for us (FRB), nothing like the "just another Diamond" treatment at Harrah's. I also had a fantastic host at Mandalay Bay before they merged. But I did have a problem with their casinos. For some reason, I did terrible in both, waaay worse than at any Harrah's properties. So I reluctantly switched to Harrah's and am more tolerant of them. My Venetian host still calls me every few months and we have nice long chats, and I visit her when in Vegas. I miss her dearly, but I can't stand to lose my shirt every time I walk into the place. BTW, Harrah's treats us very well in Vegas (Caesar's and Paris mostly), it's the AC properties and their hosts that could use a boost.

BTW, on my Med cruise on the Jewel last summer, I connected with several people who were comped the cruise (a couple even in the OS) by their casino - somewhere in the midwest. My cruise partner did not gamble, so I spent a lot of time with them. We compared play, and I was outplaying quite a few of them, for a lousy 17% discount. What a boon it would be to have Harrah's connect with NCL! Perhaps those credits just hanging in my Club account could actually be used toward something usable!

Robin, one of my pet peeves with them is the take over of 90% of Las Vegas. When Paris, Bally's, Flamingo, Ceasers etc were still owned by Hilton they were our homes away from home, then things changed. Everything became one be monopoly and look what we got? Now we hang out in Laughlin. In fact we are re-newing our wedding vows in 3 months on a yacht on the river. 50 years he has put up with me. Now, back to the subject. If it is Harrah's and NCL together, I will survive.

harrah's, all 3 in tunica, don't have the game i like..we hang out out hollywood or resorts. guess i will have to find a game at harrahs? back to video poker? would be nice to have something to spend my points on.

I know we are off the subject but I can't help think about Tunica. We are re-locating to AR soon. One of our favorite places is Tunica.

As for Laughlin, do you know they haven't built a new casino there since the Flamingo, now the Aquarius was opened in about 1991. I keep thinking, one fo these days?

Apollo has been in the news lately for having a few investments go sour on them. I hope this doesn't effect their running of Harrahs and adding to NCL. As opposed to a couple previous posters I happen to love Harrahs. I have hit Vegas 3-4 times a year since the early 70's and I wouldn't stay any where else now. JMHO.

so we go to Casino Windsor in Ontario Canada. 3.5 hour drive OW so we need hotel to crash in after a while gaming. Today I learn they are now Caesars, owned by Harrah's. So we are headed this weekend to get some points, since we got Hilton a block away from Hotwire for $86/nt.

My biggest complaint with Harrah's has been their steady removal of all decent video poker machines in Vegas. 8 years ago 8/5 Bonus Poker and 9/6 JOB at the $1.00 level were fairly easy to locate. Now they are nearly impossible at a Harrah's property . Fortunately New Orleans still has very good Video Poker so I now spend a lot of time there. Harrah's LV is also funny sometimes about taking large sports bets.

That being said, I would rate the Harrah's land based casino's much higher than any cruise ship casino that I have been in. Video poker machines on cruise ships that I have been on recently are not even real video poker machines.

My wife and I love to cruise and will continue to do so under current conditions. My hope is that if Harrah's does become involved with NCL casinos that they take some of the things that they do well and apply them to the ship casinos. It would not be difficult to improve current casino conditions on any cruise line.

Harrahs in New Orleans has been sending groups out several times on cruises on the Fantasy. What torq'd me one time was there was a blackjack tourny being played in the casino but you could not join it unless you were part of their group.

So for them to migrate over to NCL would not be that big of a change for them.
