Disembarkment Question

Recommended Posts

How does RCCL determine what deck is disembarked first/? Doesn't it usually go formtop to bottom with the times?

I think that is what I remember from the Rhapsody.

We are trying to decide if we should continue doing the self disembarkment or us the tag color method??

We wil be on deck 10 so am hoping they start from top to bottom, with earlier times for the upper decks.

Thanks,Carla

Disembarkation order is not by deck but is usually determined by the time of your return flight back home. Near the end of your cruise you will be given a form to complete that form will ask for your flight time and your ticket color will be issued accordingly.

The only exceptions are diamond C&A members who can be escorted off first by the loyalty ambassador or passengers that elect to do self-disembarkation and carry off their own luggage.

Debarkation times are usually aimed at getting those with earlier flights off first and those with late flights or who are driving off later. You can always ask for a different color tags at guest relations or from your room attendant if you want an earlier time than you are assigned.

I see you are sailing on Voyager. We were on the 2/24 sailing. Disembarkation in Galveston is not by deck anymore (as it was on our Rhapsody Dec 2004 sailing and I think our Splendour Jan 2007 sailing). As the above posters stated, it is by travel arrangements or C&A status.

This was our first cruise as Diamond so we had white tags. We disembarked around 8:30am and walked by a very, VERY long line of self-disembarkers. Didn't look very "express" to me! Many of these folks had no business doing the express method as they were hauling massive amounts of luggage which I would think slows down the process.

From my casual (and admittedly limited) observation it appears this procedure is being abused and is therefore not really a quick way to get off the ship.

Yep. When you get your luggage tags, if they aren't the ones you need just go down to guest relations and ask for the correct color.

You should receive paperwork asking about your departure times/needs. When you get your tags they include information on the time the expect each color to be called for departure. If you don't think it's early enough just ask your room attendant that night when you see them in the corridor or go to guest relations for new ones that coorespond to the time you want to get off. They don't consider this a big deal at all.

We just got off the JOS and we had self disembarkment. We had to show our airline confirmation of a early flight 11:00 am. If your flight was before 12:00 p.m. you had to depart this way. This was our first cruise in a long

time and is the future I would choice a later flight. It was kinda stressful and we really had to rush off the boat.

Since you have to be out of your room by 8am, it's just as easy to go ahead and leave. That last morning isn't a bit of fun!

Actually we did enjoy the last morning. Out of the room by 8 heading for breakfast in the dining room. Left the table when our color was called around No rush or waiting in line anywhere.

We were on Deck 10 on the Voyager (Jan 2008) and it doesn't go by deck. We had friends on Deck 10, 8, 7 and 6 and we all disembarked together.

It's based on your flight time. If you don't have a flight, then you can chose your own time...they will give you a form to fill out. Of course, if you take your own luggage, you can get off whenever you want (as long as you are out of your cabin, and off the ship by the latest times).

We had a nice morning on disembarkation day - we had breakfast in the dining room, wandered around the ship taking pictures (that's how you get pictures with no people in them), got our bags from our cabin around 8:30 and then went to the P/D waiting area in the dining room for a final cup of coffee and slice of raisin bread. Last call for all passengers to disembark came at about 9:25. We were off the ship, claimed our luggage and at the curb at 9:30.
