bek1235 Posted March 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2008 My DH and I are planning to sail in Feb. 2009 on the Explorer and DH says some oceanview rooms have balconies?! I can not find this to be true, but thought I would ask the experts :)
Sue L Posted March 12, 2008 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2008 Oceanview and balconies are two different categories, if you want a balcony you have to book a E category or higher like D
Langley Cruisers Posted March 12, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 12, 2008 An oceanview room is not the same as a balcony room. Oceanview is a window, balcony is just that. You will love Explorer - she is a phenominal ship! Have fun. ^ Sue, congratulations on staying with quitting smoking! That's wonderful. :)

cb at sea Posted March 12, 2008 #6 Share Posted March 12, 2008 Although the cruise brochure will list some rooms as "oceanview with balcony". Get the brochure and deck plans BEFORE you book, so you'll know what you're getting, and where it is!!!!! E-mail RCI--they will send one!
massfriends Posted March 12, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 12, 2008 My DH and I are planning to sail in Feb. 2009 on the Explorer and DH says some oceanview rooms have balconies?! I can not find this to be true, but thought I would ask the experts :) In a way DH is right.... The cabins are listed under CATEGORIES...Suite/Deluxe, Balcony, Ocean view & Interior. Each Cat. then has type of cabin and under the Cat. Balcony it does say Superior Oceanview w/Balcony & Deluxe Ocean View w/ Balcony.

Dr_DNA Posted March 12, 2008 #10 Share Posted March 12, 2008 bek1235- Welcome to the wonderful, addicting world of cruising. You don't know what you're getting into! Get the brochures from RCCL (you can make requests on their site) but you can get even more information from their website. http://www.royalcaribbean.com/gohome.do I guess that technically all balconies have an ocean view. However, an oceanview category only has a window.
Belfast Castle Posted March 12, 2008 #11 Share Posted March 12, 2008 we were on Explorer last November - we had a D1 balcony room which I think was either no 7662 or no 7666 it was an outside stateroom on deck 7 - lovely room really enjoyed to balcony. bek1235 Posted March 19, 2008 Author #13 Share Posted March 19, 2008 Another question concerning staterooms on the Explorer. Which balcony rooms are the quietest? Toward the back or front of the ship? Thanks!
Sugar*Magnolia Posted March 19, 2008 #14 Share Posted March 19, 2008 We try to always book a balcony cabin on the hump. It is VERY convenient and never 'noisy'. Go to royalcaribbean.com then to0 plan a cruise then click on ships, check out the voyager class- Explorer deck plans and give them a little study to see where many attractions are (dining rooms, pool, solarium, etc) & decide where YOU think would be best. Again, always being near the hump is best for us. Last July we were way aft and altho love the aft of her, Explorer, I didnt like the schlep home at night! (or any other time, like after excursions). Thats just how we like to cruise. Welcome to Cruise critic and the addiction of cruising!
