klfhngr Posted March 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2008 would you choose the Carnival Splendor or RCCL's Mariner of the Seas??

RYPERO Posted March 27, 2008 #3 Share Posted March 27, 2008 I have been having the same dilema for planning a future cruise. I have alwasy wanted to try one of RCCL's larger ships but I have always had such a great time on Carnival on the Mexican Riviera cruises that I am sure would be even better with their newest ship. So I am no help in your question but I look forward to the other replies.

Unfortunetly I had a full cast on my leg, plus I was drugged out (knee surgery), so I don't remember much, I have to watch the video I took! azziemama Posted March 27, 2008 #5 Share Posted March 27, 2008 If you have the chance to go on the Mariner GOGOGOGOGO We went on the Navigator (its sister ship) and it is absolutly beautiful.. We had a balcony cabin on deck 10 aft (very aft) It was wonderful. The cost is guite a bit more on Royal than Carnival. We have been checking it out for spring of 2009. You will not be disappointed. cruisetmc Posted April 20, 2008 #9 Share Posted April 20, 2008 Anyone know when the Mariner will move to the West Coast and who will replace her in Port Canaveral?
sassyredhat Posted April 20, 2008 #10 Share Posted April 20, 2008 We had the same dilemma. We chose CCL Splendor mainly because it is a new ship, CC's group price was very low, and it had a golf itinerary. However, I DO want to sail Mariner, so I guess we'll have to do both ! :D Pat
melika091900 Posted April 20, 2008 #11 Share Posted April 20, 2008 mariner should be there starting feb of 2009 it looks like the vision will be sailing from santo domingo instead of the west coast once mariner comes in ..

firefly333 Posted April 20, 2008 #14 Share Posted April 20, 2008 Voyager is the same class ship. I was on her this past Easter week. She was incredibly gorgeous. Glass elevators on both ends of the ship all the way up and down. I liked the promenade to run to for a quick snack. The pizza was there to grab as soon as it popped out of the oven, they put it on a plate for you to grab. Iced tea and coffee and tea packets there I think all day, plus breakfast pastries and all kinds of cookies during the day and little finger sandwiches to choose from. One guy told me he skipped dessert at dinner because he liked what the little cafe had better at night. We were much closer to the cafe than to the buffet. Some like Host Mach say its too focused inside, but here is a shot from a place on deck 5, not quite the centrum but extra quiet seats all the time when I walked by. They had tall but thin fish tanks on both sides of this area with fish swimming, even though the tanks were dark. The floor outside the casino was clear with lights under it. I almost tripped catching myself when I didnt see a floor!!
