Afternoon tea?

Do any Carnival ships offer afternoon tea? In particular I was wondering about the Freedom....

All the Carnival ships I've sailed on have had "Tea Time" on sea day afternoons. I'm sure they all do. I enjoyed it very much each cruise.

Yep. Typically on the last sea day and perhaps one other sea day.

The Liberty offered tea on all the sea days last year. The only downside though was that it was held in the cigar bar.

That is a downside on the Conquest class ships.

DH and I loved tea time. It was held in the afternoon on each sea day on the Valor.

have been to Tea on Carnival ships--only drawback is lots of talking and or walking thru noise which made it difficult to hear the musicians...(classical)...:(

On the Imagination and Fascination they hold it in the piano bar...what yummy treats! (like I need more food on a cruise LOL)

Tea time for us was on the sea days around three in the afternoon.

 

Check your capers.

 

It is a nice time to sit back and be served tea, and some tasty little treats.

A good cup of Earl Grey will suit me just fine. Those pastries look really good too. I am gonna have to check it out next time.

I didn't even thing they were real scones - not after I saw (and made) the ones from John Heald's Mum's recipe. Those were incredible. :)

Now I need the recipe. I love good scones with real clotted cream.

Hopefully we will be able to get them on the Splendor. You'll have to give us a full report on tea.

I think you serve these with real butter! At least I do.

 

 

CHEESE SCONES

1lb SR flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

3oz butter

8oz grated cheese

1/2 pint milk

Rub flour and butter together, add salt and grated cheese.

Gradually stir in milk and knead into a dough and shape into scones.

Place in hot oven and cook approx 12 mins.

Afternoon tea is a must, not something we get to do everday!!!:D

I'm a "serious" tea drinker, so I usually don't even drink tea when I travel because you don't have access to BOILING water. Pouring lukewarm water over a tea bag just doesn't do it. And when I ask for milk, not cream, I end up waiting 20 minutes before I can have my tea anyway.

 

We do go to tea, though, just because we can. :D

 

And don't get me started on Carnival changing to plastic mugs in the buffet! I even complained about that when I wrote to them after my Miracle cruise.

 

I had planned on driving to my next cruises and was going to take a mug so I at least wouldn't have to put up with the plastic, but ended up booking a flight last week. I suppose if I went to the coffee bar and asked for a mug they would give me one. Or I could just order room service as soon as we board and then lock the cup in the safe so the steward doesn't "clean up" after me! :p

Thanks, might have to give these a try.

I think butter would be much better with these so the cheese flavor comes thru.

On Miracle, it was in one of the lounges in front of the dining room. This normally is an area that allows smoking, but I don't recall that people were smoking during tea. We were a little late arriving (and every table was taken when we got there).

 

I know the piano bars on the Fantasy-class ships, where they hold tea, also allow smoking, but don't recall anyone doing so during tea time, either. Perhaps the smokers are considerate enough to realize that smoking while others are eating isn't the most considerate thing to do and just go elsewhere.

 

Sorry, not real sure. I'll let you know what I see while on Glory in a couple of weeks.

Look at it this way. Smoking is very British :D and adds to the atmosphere. But I agree, tea bags and lukewarm water just don't do it for me, either. Sadly, most Brits use bags now. I enjoy going to Indian markets here in North Texas to buy my loose tea these days. Asam tea is a favorite.

I think Tea Time on the Holiday was the nicest I've attended...many times.:) About scones, I've had only the regular scones - served with lemon curd, one of my favorites; never had a cheese scone.

 

Smoking is something I do, but definitely not at Tea. I've never seen anyone else smoking in there either....just not a proper thing to do, and I guess most folks realize that.

Afternoon tea on the Glory is in the Ivory Club around 3:30 on Thursday and Friday(both sea days). Scones were to die for and the chocolate fudge cake makes your teeth hurt :)!!! And the water for the tea was piping hot!! Music was very soothing and quite good!! Would recomend tea time for everyone!!!
