Warning this site is very addicting

I wish someone would have told me and maybe there should be a Surgeon General's warning label. WARNING THIS SITE MAY BE ADDICTING.

I find my wife giving me strange looks as I sit in front of my monitor saying strange things like fruitcake, whack job, troll SOB, and other unkind phrases. Of course she loves it when I find out times we can eat for half price at the specialty restaurants and find really fun excursions like cave tubing in Belize.

I love a post when it turns into a feeding frenzy and I love the reviews good and bad. Time seems to fly and what seems like an hour turns into four.

I wonder what the aveage number of hours we spend here is? I average about four; sometimes more, sometimes less.

I'm so addicted that I can't stay away even though I don't have another cruise booked at the moment  . It's been a year since we were on the Pearl, and while I'm starting to look into one of the Canada/New England ones this fall, nothing is firm yet. I need help!

Ute_fan We did the New England route on the Dawn. I remember the chill bumps from hearing the bag pipes welcome us at 7 in the morning in Halifax.

Back to addictions. At least I don't have hair growing on my palms yet!!

Oh wait....oh no!!

I'd LOVE to get more information about how you liked the Canada/New England itinerary. I think it's a little different this year -- it's only 7 days, but I think it looks wonderful. If you have any information regarding shore excursions or "must do's", my email link is in my signature line. We've got friends who haven't cruised on NCL before thinking about going with us, so I'd like to be able to help them plan.

Book the Dawn on 9/21st! We need more on our roll call!

And, I promise we'll be a happy crowd! Even if we don't get towel animals, or have to wait in line for a table at dinner! :D

That's the week we're looking at :D . My DH and I both do payrolls for small companies and have to work around that. The cruise leaving 9/21 is perfect, since both of our payrolls are on the 20th. We can get everything finished up and not have to worry about anything until we get back.

I've been lurking on your roll-call but didn't want to post until I knew if we were going to be able to make all the schedules work out for that week.

I really hope you can work it out. I think that it's a good week as it should still be pretty warm. Only prob is I doubt if the trees will be in full color at that time. I guess it's hard to get both...warm weather and pretty colors!

I've booked a lot of excursions, but don't want to hijack this thread. Come on over to the roll call and talk....even if you haven't booked quite yet! Notice I said "quite" ;)

You're absolutely right about this site being addictive. I have never been on a cruise before but have booked for March of 2009. I have been reading the boards steadily since December.........interesting posts and some good advice and every day I am more and more excited about cruising. Can't wait!:D

Oh dear. I thought I was relaxing every night when I sit down here. Now I find out that I'm an addict.

Frankly it occurred to me recently that I spend far more time planning this cruise than I will spend on it. Think about that! A week only lasts 168 hours. I booked this upcoming cruise at 235 days out. Even if I limited myself to an average of an hour a day, I need to tack several days on that cruise to balance out.

Same here. But to be honest I am learning alot and I wish I had spent more time on here back when we did the Dawn in 2006. So much information and so little time. :D

I have only been here a couple of weeks but I think I too am an addict.

I booked our first cruise with a degree of confidence having studied the information I found here.

I have also had endless information on what to do in the ports, best excursions and so on. I have great information about Seattle and what to do in our time there.

I spend about 3 hours per day on here so I am definately addicted. I don't care though because I have been on tonns of forums in other areeas and found flaming, spam and rubbish. This forum is top quality so I thank the moderators for keeping it clean and the users for being such a great bunch who are totally selfless in their help of others.

Thank You Cruise Critic for being there when I needed you!

I enjoy all of the information I get here. It is a site with a wealth of information and I have enjoyed all of the tips I get here.

Yep....am addicted..........I check 2-3 times a day to see what's new! :D

Two or three times is what some of our recovering addicts are down to.

In our begining we are seeing folks who carry their laptops in the car while going to work or call in sick to watch CC all day.

I retired just to keep a watch on CC who knows who will need help with a cruise or guard against the "other" people who are out there.

So 2 or 3 times is really good but just give CC time you will have an urge an uncontrollable urge to see what the latest news is.

Skynyrd... I am very torn when I read someone, such as yourself, who has never cruised before, but is reading all of these posts. Here is why I am torn.

I have always thought the cruise industry is to blame when people came off of their first cruise and are disappointed. They see all the ads on TV and think every meal is going to be fantastic, they will win every time they sit down in the casino, that life is a party 24/7, etc. IMHO, not true. A cruise is like any other vacation.. It is what YOU make of it.

So, when I see someone who hasn't cruised before.. I'm torn. I'm happy because you will probably have great and realistic expectations because you read these boards. But since I have found CC boards, I have also read where people have said their first cruise was heaven because they had not found these boards before they cruised. Once they found these boards, they realized, after reading posts, what all was wrong with their first cruise after all.

You have found, I am sure, that there are posters on here who are like me and could live their life on a cruise ship. So it's hard for us to say any cruise was a "bad" cruise. One thing I can tell you.. one piece of advise from someone who loves cruises and who wants every one to enjoy their cruise is just what I said above... Your cruise IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT. Always remember that and you will have a blast on your cruise.

Other than that.. welcome to the board.. Cant wait until you write your review of your first cruise.. 8-)
