mimikens Posted May 24, 2008 #26 Share Posted May 24, 2008 I would have preferred "Genesis of the Seas". I agree 100%!
CanTex Posted May 24, 2008 #27 Share Posted May 24, 2008 Allure of the Seas? I keep thinking "Fishing Lure of the Seas" when I hear it. Oasis? On the seas? Maybe in a desert.
webgal318 Posted May 26, 2008 #28 Share Posted May 26, 2008 I voted that I am indifferent but I don't really like either name. I agree that "Oasis" sounds too desert-like although a synonym for oasis is refuge, sanctuary, retreat so yeah, it makes sense. I don't like "Allure" of the Seas at all. It sounds cheesy. In any case, I live only a couple of hours away from Port Everglades and I am thrilled that Oasis will be home ported so close to home. I will be glad when I know when she will be actually begin sailing Sylvia
cruiserbryce Posted May 26, 2008 #29 Share Posted May 26, 2008 I am indifferent to them. The names sound different right now but I am sure they will grow on me. Cant wait to put up Oasis of the Seas countdown.
DonnaK Posted May 26, 2008 #30 Share Posted May 26, 2008 Of all the words in the English language, I can't believe that Oasis and Allure are the best choice to name these ships. I'm very disappointed in all the names that were under final consideration. I voted "Hate them"
megr1125 Posted May 26, 2008 #31 Share Posted May 26, 2008 Hate them......but i wouldn't rule out sailing on them...... behemoth and leviathan of the seas! works for me! (i still like Chicken of the Seas-if Jessica Simpson is Godmother!)
Ula Posted May 26, 2008 #32 Share Posted May 26, 2008 When I read the first ship would be called the Oasis, the song Midnight at the Oasis played in my mind. I really hate that song. Fred Willard did a good cover of it.
jillybabes Posted May 26, 2008 #33 Share Posted May 26, 2008 Voted indifferent to the name...We don't book a cruise because of the name of the ship...Can't wait til the bookings open....Later, Jill:cool:
astralj Posted June 15, 2008 #34 Share Posted June 15, 2008 *humming to myself.... "Call her irresistable"....and wondering if Jessica Simpson shows up in one of the future tv ads
sea-cruise Posted June 15, 2008 #35 Share Posted June 15, 2008 I'm obviously not voting being the poll has closed. Allure sounds like a fishing lure (shaped like a ship of course), and Oasis reminds me of an Arabian desert.
realtreebar Posted June 15, 2008 #36 Share Posted June 15, 2008 does it really matter what the name is? Rccl naming contest was a set up any way!!!!
Barbiegator Posted June 16, 2008 #37 Share Posted June 16, 2008 You forgot my choice..."Just open the darn booking already " I don't care if they call it chicken of the sea, I just want to start making some solid plans. :D Me too!! Can't wait to sail on the big ships!!
FitzLA Posted June 16, 2008 #38 Share Posted June 16, 2008 I voted "hate them" but that is really just too strong. I just think they sound awful....espectially Allure OTS :( Plus, when I think of Oasis - I think dessert and not water or seas  Dessert? As in Key Lime Pie? That would be a fun ship! Dessert of the Seas. :D
Merion_Mom Posted June 16, 2008 Author #39 Share Posted June 16, 2008 Dessert? As in Key Lime Pie? That would be a fun ship! Dessert of the Seas. :D I'm with you, Fitz. How about éclair of the seas? Baked Alaska of the Seas? (it would sail to Alaska, obviously ;)) Soufflé of the Seas? Actually, I rather like that one...... ;)

snowbird1 Posted June 16, 2008 #42 Share Posted June 16, 2008 Like many others, I think they could have found a better name than Oasis but it really doesn't matter as long as the ship is nice and I am sure it will be. I really thought the Genesis name would have been good for the first one but that is why someone else gets the big bucks to make these decisions. :D
