When did the Cruisecritic.com Photo Gallery start up?

I'm talkin about..

http://pictures.cruisecritic.com/

I've been trying to establish the date of my first submission to the Photo Gallery

-so far it seems to be Dec. 20th. 07??

but it's got to be earlier than that!?

I know it hasn't been going a long time, but still...

Anyone?

A little more poking around found that the first posts were by LaursS in the Photo of the Week gallery on 9/25/07.

BTW, was there a reason beyond curiosity? If not, no worries..if I were a cat, I'd be long dead from it!

No...pretty much curiosity,that's all.

I've now posted 400-odd pics and have received an amazing ninety-six thousand views

(thank you, viewers!)

and since it seemed like I'd been posting pics forever

I started wondering when I'd posted the first one, and what it might have been!

Tried using the Search function to see if maybe I could sort results by First ones First maybe,

but it seems to focus instead on one's latest posts. Oh well.

Let me know if you figure out anything

given your curiosity(and brain?) are better/more resourceful than mine? :D

Where do you see the view numbers?

.... maybe I just haven't looked in the right place....

When you click on someone's username (under their submitted picture)

you're taken to that person's (Photos)Profile page, as in...

http://pictures.cruisecritic.com/member.php?uid=272460

Having got there, you'll notice..

Profile

Statistics

Photos

Comments

over in the left hand column.

Click on the Statistics link and you'll see(among other things)

'Number of times photos viewed' for that user.

Clicking on the other links brings up all kinds info on ppl and their submissions

including which ones are your most popular photos.

My three-most-popular photos are Cabin Shots of all things!!

Goes to show what folks want to look at, huh?

Unfortunately, most users have blank Profile's which is a bit of a disappointment.

Did you ever find a quicker way to upload photos (especially more than one at a time)?

I gave up after a while because the process was just so laborious and lengthy

No. Never needed to.

Although I see slots for three submissions on the upload page

I still prefer to submit one at a time - selecting carefully.

Quality not quantity.

I agree - but I regard nearly 500 in total as quantity and unless the upload speed has improved (or your connection is waaaay better than mine) that speels a loooot of patience for me.

Maybe I need to try again and see if the speed (or my patience) has improved ;)

Yes, but that 500 didn't happen in a day or a week!

That numbers have accumulated since late last year.

Take your time.

Or do you wanna do like that guy from Texas

who uploaded over 200 'postage stamps' overnight?

Seems I just crossed the 100,000 views mark

- a seemingly impossible number some months ago!

Again..thanks to all those who chose to view my pics.

I hope you got as much pleasure from them as I did

shooting them and posting them here! :)

Congrats!

You made me curious and I checked my stats. Oh well, I didn't need that ego anyway!:o I've only got a quarter as many views!

Good work!

Congrats! ===> Thank you.

You made me curious and I checked my stats. ===> Check your most popular pics, too!

What still amazes me is the subject content of my most popular shots

- Cabin shots! (who'da thunk it?):)

But even after my cabin shots

what makes those other shots more popular than anything else?

I now pay attention to subject content (versus caption?)

Blue skies in a picture seem to be a big draw(duuhh)...

as are ships at a 3/4 angle approaching the camera position,it seems..

and of course 'sweeping-angle' Beaches!

Intriguing captions that almost make the viewer click to see what's going on in the picture

-that seems to generate more clicks than would ordinarily be the case.

It's a bit like Advertising,isn't it?!!

I wonder if someone with a website that shows cabins on different ships has linked to your photos - that might explain a large number of hits also.

That said, when I've shown my photos, I've also been totally amazed at what other people like in comparison to what I thought was a good photo. To each their own is what I think then...if they like it, then that is good.

You've obviously got photos that people like to look at! :)
