cnvh Posted June 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2008 My friend asked me this yesterday and I don't have an answer... (And I haven't a clue as to why she wants to know, as she isn't planning a cruise anytime soon, but anyway...) Are greeting cards (birthday cards, anniversary cards, etc.) available in HAL gift shops?
cferro514 Posted June 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2008 I have not seen greeting cards in the shops.
Krazy Kruizers Posted June 24, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 24, 2008 I haven't seen them in years on the ships.
kakalina Posted June 24, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 24, 2008 I have purchased cards in the gift shop. They are usually in the small one that sells candy, cigarettes, paperbacks and booze. There is not a large selection but they do have them for sale.
jhannah Posted June 24, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 24, 2008 I don't recall seeing any ... nor does my DW.

sail7seas Posted June 24, 2008 #7 Share Posted June 24, 2008 I also have seen a small selection of greeting cards in that shop.
Candy Posted June 24, 2008 #8 Share Posted June 24, 2008 There is a very small selection, but don't expect anything with a HAL logo on it.
sail7seas Posted June 24, 2008 #9 Share Posted June 24, 2008 Good point, Candy, and GREAT idea. I'd love if HAL sold things like greeting cards that included the Logo. How fun to use if giving someone a gift for their cruise and particularly for those generous people who actually give someone a gift of a cruise! Krazy Kruizers Posted June 24, 2008 #10 Share Posted June 24, 2008 There weren't any on the Westerdam -- I had to buy one in Juneau.
bepsf Posted June 25, 2008 #11 Share Posted June 25, 2008 I agree - Logo Greeting Cards would be a great revenue-generating idea... ...as long as the picture postcards are still free. :)
Palms2Pines2Sea Posted June 25, 2008 #12 Share Posted June 25, 2008 Who is the artist who has many works featuring HAL ships on display aboard the fleet? I would think that packs of gift cards with those images of HAL vessels (both past and present) would be HUGE sellers onboard. Or lovely parting gifts. I believe that's Captain Stephen Card, whose artwork adorns HAL ships. Candy
Denisern2 Posted June 25, 2008 #14 Share Posted June 25, 2008 I like to buy them in a foreign port if the person is sailing with me it makes it a cool memory.
sail7seas Posted June 25, 2008 #15 Share Posted June 25, 2008 Yes, all those fabulous paintings of HAL ships on the landings of the stairwells are done by Stephen Card. Now that you mention it, I think he has done a packet of note cards. If that is so, I'm sure they're wonderful but I still would like note cards showing an HAL ship with the logo or greeeting cards.
