Susie51 Posted June 29, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2008 Wow, I must not have my bearings correct. I thought it would be just the opposite. If you are cruising southwest from Manhatten terminal which side of the Statue of Liberty do you sail by?
smeyer418 Posted June 29, 2008 #5 Share Posted June 29, 2008 opps an apology. I know its the right side I just confused port with starboard/ You pass the SOL on the ships right side Starboard out and Port Left in....
Susie51 Posted June 29, 2008 #6 Share Posted June 29, 2008 Smeyer, I see you are from NYC. I asked this question before, but I can't find the post. Using the A subway to get to Fort Washington Park and the Jefferey Hook Lighthouse at which station should I get off of the subway? How do I cross the highway? buzzor Posted June 29, 2008 #7 Share Posted June 29, 2008 To get to the Little Red Light House, take the A Train to 181st St. Station. Walk west on 181st and take the foot bridge over the West Side Hwy. Directions are here: http://www.lighthousefriends.com/light.asp?ID=
capncarp Posted June 30, 2008 #8 Share Posted June 30, 2008 Here's a shot of the Statue of Liberty as seen from the 12th-deck Garden Cafe, port side, as we cruised back into NY harbor. Keep your camera with you during sailaway and on homecoming day!
Gingee Posted June 30, 2008 #9 Share Posted June 30, 2008 I agree with the starboard side. Of course you can always just go to the front of the ship and look out.
Rare Got2Cruise Posted June 30, 2008 #10 Share Posted June 30, 2008 When you leave the Manhattan pier, you first will be passing the NYC skyline for a while. Enjoy the view. You will also be passing the site of the former WTC. . .it is now a huge construction site. Once you pass the tip of Manhattan, the South Street Seaport, then you can go to the other side of the ship and wait for the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island. You will also pass under the Verrazano Bridge which is a fun experience because it will seem that the ship will not fit.
bobnatt Posted June 30, 2008 #11 Share Posted June 30, 2008 Upgrade to the Garden Villa suite and you will be able to look at both sides of the ship from the upper level outdoor terrace...
