No more free casino money

Recommended Posts

Gee, if $12.00 means so much. You might want to collect all of the soda cans for your recycling rebate!!

A bit harsh, don't you think?

1. $12 is $12. Why not take advantage of it?

2. I truly admire the folks who walk around collecting soda cans. First, it shows they are really trying to make their own way and second it is good for the environment!

Here is another view of the fee, I will try my best to type it down

I believed any bussiness that except the credit card, they have to pay the fee. I'm not sure if this apply to cuise ship sinice they are big bussiness.

In a small bussiness, they prefered you paid in cash or check. If you paid in credit card, the business had to pay a % fee (1-3%) for the total amount. American Express fee was the higher than Visa and MasterCard. So really if you look that way they are losing money compared to cash.

Ex. In the Rest. when the customer paid with credit card, it processing the transection to the bank, then by the end of the month, the bank (that process the credit card) will added then subtrack the fee% before that they deposit the total of transection to your bussiness account . So if you see here, If you spent $100.00 on credit card the Rest. is not getting $100.00. But it is better for the bussiness to excepted all form of payments.

Now for the cruise ship, is it really a big % of people get some money? Is it 50% of passenger? I don't believe so, even if they do, what is the % of passenger will get a very LARGE amount? A few hundreds - maybe. No one want to be in credit card debt.

Yes, cruise ship could let this slide unless they can see another way of making money without losing any:D

Just a thought - small % add up

How do you find out about the 3% charge?

1. Is there a sign?

2. Do you need to ask when you get the money?

3. Do you just get a big surprise when you get your bill?

Thanks.

There was a proper Black on Gold etched sign at each of the windows stating the policy of charging 3% on ALL TRANSACTIONS from the casino, when I asked what if I buy chips whilst on the tables, to which she replied, yes. I tried it and yes they did charge the 3% also. It shows on the receipt they give you with the cash/chips, ie took out $500 and charge was $515.

Chaps my butte...

A change that chaps me is the "free" drink coupon in the C&A book. No more free beer or wine. The coupon is only good for a mixed drink (house brand), bottled water or soda.

Still lots of bingo coupons, though! Woo Hoo!! :p

IF RCI has changed its policy about getting money in the casino using your seapass, and is now charging a 3% fee, it has not yet been implemented fleet-wide. My wife and two of her friends each got $100 in cash in the Sovereign of the Seas casino this past weekend, and none were charged anything above the $100 they requested.

Just off the Vision of the Seas. The Diamond C & A book used to have 3 coupons for $2 casino money. Now you get 3 pulls of a slot machine. The lady before us got zilch. My wife and I both got zilch. The lady behind us hit it big. On her second pull she had 3 double bars. The machine said she won 15. We thought $15. No, the machine printed out a voucher for 15 cents. We all laughed. She took it to the cashiers cage and they gave her a keychain instead of the 15 cents. Man, things are tight on RCCL.

They still had the coupons in our Diamond books on our April 25 cruise on the Ex. and the 5.00 match ones for roulette and there's another one too but I forget.:) My DH will have a fit if they take away his casino coupons! LOL :D But sign of times and more cost cuts I guess.

We've always used our own cash never putting it on the Seapass for casino but they did give a friend of ours a hard time about taking cash out on seapass at casino window in Dec. They finally gave it to her but they were not happy about it. No extra fee was charged at that time. Of course she asked for 500.00 and that may have been part of problem too.

On Splendour we had a rather large OBC left on both cruises and since they don't know how to credit your credit card when you have a credit on your SeaPass account, they give you any unused OBC in cash.

We had $102.00 OBC left after our cruise in January, and it was credited to our credit card after about 3 weeks.

Reference the 3% cash fee. Under no circumstances should it be applicable to amounts withdrawn from the casino as long as you still have a balance in OBC. That's charging you for YOUR money.

Happy Sails to You

OOOEEE:D :D Bob and Phyl

I totally agee with this. We will have over $900 in OBC for our next cruise and would really be hot if they charged me to get my own money!

New to all this...but can you just bring your own corkscrew, open the bottle yourself in your cabin and bring it with you to the dining room?

No. If somehow you do get a bottle on board, don't bring it to the dining room.

I've seen people bringing in filled wine glasses into the dining room without a problem as it is possibly that they got them at a ship's bar but I also wouldn't try to bring in a bottle especially if it wasn't one that was available onboard.

We were on Enchantment in May and our Diamond Book had the new coupons in, we didn't bother using them as we figured the machines specially for this would'nt pay out.:( So for us to they could leave them out of the book, but we do like the ones for the photographs.:)

I asked this question when we went down to Guest Relations after completion of the first part of our b2b of why they couldn't just leave the unused OBC alone and it would be credited back to our credit card and the girl told me that they feel safer giving you your money back and clearing your account on the spot.

On the second part of our b2b, when we went and I asked the same question again to a different girl and she told me that they don't know how to roll over the credit to our credit card!

Since I didn't feel like a fruity drink all week & didn't need another souvenier glass I asked the bartender if I could use the coupon for a beer - no problem!

Gotta love the bingo coupons - we had 27 chances to win one time!

I have also found if you get to know a particular bar tender;) ;) ......you don't even have to stay with the "house" brand.
