friday109 Posted July 1, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 1, 2008 Hi we took our first cruise last February - LOVED IT !!! we are planning for next February - would like your thoughts on lower decks For our first cruise we were on Deck 2 Ocean view near the back of the ship -there was no problem with movement or noise & vibration from the engine. Were we just lucky? or is this true on most ships. we do not spend enough time in our cabin to spend a lot of $$ rather save it for excursions and drinks Also - on the deck plans, what are the areas that are not labeled?? is this storage? would it be noisy to be across from a storage or other work area? cb at sea Posted July 1, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 1, 2008 Most of the "unlabled" blank spaces are either a problem with the drawing (they're not "to scale") or house the ship's vents, wiring, electrical stuff, etc... None of those areas will be noisy.
Sea Hag Posted July 1, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 1, 2008 Most of the "unlabled" blank spaces are either a problem with the drawing (they're not "to scale") or house the ship's vents, wiring, electrical stuff, etc... None of those areas will be noisy. Some of those unlabeled spaces can for sure be noisy! Some inside cabins have service corridors behind them, with staff going back and forth at all times of the day or night. A cabin can also be located below, for instance, the buffet galley. That's a blank space, and you'd better believe it can be noisy!
spaceflower77 Posted October 1, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 1, 2008 My sister, brother in law, husband and I booked two Inside Cabins next door to each other on the Carnival Ecstasy last August (2007). They were one of the lower decks. I loved them. Very quiet, very dark (nice for naps :) and we didn't have any problem with them at all. Also they were much less expensive. firefly333 Posted October 1, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 1, 2008 blank white spaces can also be ice machines and noisy or the cubby hole your cabin steward uses from very early in the morning. Also on Carnival it can be a laundry room, if someone is doing laundry at 3 am and not quiet you can hear them. Most people try to not be across or next to white spaces because most of them are noisy imo.
Sixtytwo Posted October 12, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 12, 2008 In eleven years never had anything but an inside cabin. Our theory: If we want to look, the deck offers the best view. If we want to sleep, the cabin doesn't matter once the eyes are closed! Go inside and splurge on the libations!
