39august Posted July 15, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2008 Now that some of the ships are charging 3% to get cash in the casino, can anyone confirm that we can still either cash travelers checks or write personal checks at Guest Relations to get cash? My husband usually spends around $1000 at the casino and he doesn't want to carry around that much cash.

My husband usually spends around $1000 at the casino and he doesn't want to carry around that much cash. The going rumor is that if you take the cash against your sea pass while playing, the charge can be waived by the croupier. If he is going to play at the $1000 level over the week, they should accomodate him. A quick call to C & A should be able to confirm this for you for your individual ship. 39august Posted July 16, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted July 16, 2008 Interesting information, but it doesn't answer my question. Can anyone tell me if I can get cash at the Guest Relations desk without surcharge? I expect that if I called RCI 3 times with this question, I would get at least 2 different answers! fllchick Posted July 16, 2008 #5 Share Posted July 16, 2008 I thought the 3% was if you took the money from your credit card? Is this something new that if you get cash on your seapass that they charge 3%?
kjacruiser Posted July 16, 2008 #6 Share Posted July 16, 2008 How about buying Casino Credit before the cruise with Credit Card...This way you have it when you arrive and paid for before sailing....and if you use your RCCL Credit Card....You get Double Points..... fllchick Posted July 16, 2008 #7 Share Posted July 16, 2008 But what if you go through that amount and want to gamble more? I've always been able to get cash on my seapass without having to pay a surcharge.
gdpups Posted July 16, 2008 #8 Share Posted July 16, 2008 I was on the Monarch last month and there was a sign that said there is a 3% charge to get cash from a Seapass card.

New rules with signs by the Cashiers Cage...........It has been reported here that they will charge you 3% when you take money out of the casino against your SeaPass card..........but not all ships are charging...........so there is no consistency.:(

Grandeur Posted July 16, 2008 #12 Share Posted July 16, 2008 Just last week on Sovereign I got cash from casino cashier charged to my seapass card...no charge. I believe the confusion relates to how you word your request. There is a 3% charge for cash against your CREDIT card. I encountered this when I ask to charge it to my card and they thought I meant credit card, not seapass card.
39august Posted July 16, 2008 Author #13 Share Posted July 16, 2008 jersey and kjacruiser, Thanks for your responses. I think I'll buy some OBC, not specifically casino credit, prior to our cruise. Then, if by some miracle, we don't use it all, we can just get the cash back. I was very unhappy when I found out that some of the ships are charging a 3% fee. Princess has done this for years, and when we began sailing RCI instead, we were very happy to be able to charge cash for no fee.
