TWELVEOHONE Posted July 16, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 16, 2008 Article in NY Times this morning about Park East Art Auctions on cruise ships. Worth reading http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/07/16/arts/16crui.php
gracecarmo Posted July 16, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2008 To clarify: it is actually Park West Gallery. (not Park East). I just go and sip the free champagne and marvel at what the auctioneer is saying....it's too funny! They have been around a long time selling their "art". micmacmissy Posted July 16, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2008 Honestly, why don't these people just hold a gun to your head and steal your wallet while they're at it? It is deplorable that cruise ships allow this to happen. They all deserve to be sued.
donaldsc Posted July 16, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 16, 2008 We have not had one of these threads in at least a week. Does the statement "a fool and his money are soon parted" have any relevance? DON
bubbie617 Posted July 16, 2008 #5 Share Posted July 16, 2008 My husband used to be in the art / art auction business. He knows the price of the "paper" in many cases. He knows the difference between a poster, a lithograph, a seriograph, an embellished piece, etc. We have bought quite a few things from Park West over the years. When we purchased several pieces in January of this year, I had need to call their Customer Service people. They handled my problems politely and professionally and to our great satisfaction. YMMV
