Carrying wine/alcohol onboard

You can carry on wine and beer but don't go overboard. If you choose to bring the wine to dinner, than you will be charged a corkage fee..

As long as you are discrete and dont take cases of spirits, no one will bother you, especially if you limit it to your cabin.

I've packed a few bottles of red wine in bubble wrap, then in large plastic zip lock bags and placed in checked luggage and have safely arrived. The corkage fee is/was $12 on the Connie last Dec. but well worth it. We did bring a few other bottles on board in carryon and had no problems (these were gifts for friends). Just dont' bring them in a plastic bag, they'll might confiscate that.

OK...I really want to take a case on board. Would love to have a party and really don't want to spring for all the extra wine. Has anyone ever done this? This would strictly be for room consumption.

Have you and your SO each bring 6 bottles in a rolling carry-on. Shouldn't be a problem. (Don't act like you are together when you board the ship!)

They might take it away if you have it in your carry-on and give it back to you at the end of the cruise. I have seen it taken on a Carnival Cruise. I have also carried some aboard in a port. Sometimes they check, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they overlook and sometimes they don't.

10S NUT,

You should not have any problem if you pack the wines in a carry-on bag. If anyone asks you simply tell them that the wine is for the dining room Do not call Celebrity...they will just make you crazy!!

Calling Celebrity was a JOKE...hint: Don't I just know on the driving one crazy. It took me eight emails to get a Captain's Club number. But I am sold on the product. I have carried on bottles of wine with no problem. Just wanted to do the case thing. I still think I have a shot at it.

I sent an email to Celebrity some time ago telling them I wanted to bring some wine from home very expensive etc for dinning room consumption. Very polite response...against policy. After reading all the info here I plan to bring a case of wine and seen what happens. Will advise what happens, board on the 24th if that is not too late to be helpful.

Oh Pokerplayer....You are my kinda person! I had that same conversation with them many moons ago. But they have never not allowed me to bring it on. You go for it...I have ages before the cruise so let me know the results. The worst that can happen is that I break the case open and hand carry it ...with Lois and Ruthann's help of course! 10s nut

Will advise... bought a small portable folding luggage cart that I can pack in my luggage. Plan on buying a case of wine in Ft Lauderdale. Thought I would appear more dignified if I rolled the case in on a cart rather than trying to cary a case on my shoulder. In a RS so worse case if they take it, I will try to ask my butler to go down and see if he can help get it aboard.. My first trip on Celebrity so not sure what to expect. By the way, noticed you are in Sterling we live in Woodstock VA.

The official Celebrity policy on bringing wine onboard is: "For guests celebrating a special occasion who would like to bring wine or champagne to consume in our dining rooms/restaurants, there will be a corkage fee. The corkage fee for the main and casual dining room is $12 per bottle; for the specialty restaurant, $15 per bottle."

The family at the table beside ours on the Galaxy must have brought a couple of cases. We've brought bottles on Princess cruises and will bring them when we take another Celebrity cruise. Taking a cruise is a special occasion for us.

Emailed Celebrity (contact us) on their wine and champagne policy but they never replied. Called and was first told no and then came back with yes for wine or champagne. No mention of corkage fee but with $2.00 - $ 3.00 "Buck Chuck" (Charles Shaw) @ Trader Joe's plus $12.00 corkage still a good deal and the wine ain't bad!

Small world Pokerplayer!

And for all concerned, I don't want to bring my wine/champagne to the dining room. Want to throw a party! Does anyone know of a place in Villefranche where we can buy some nice French wine when in port on the Millenium? I asked this question once before and came up empty-handed so wine stores may be in short supply there...? Thanks. Serena

I brought a half case with no problem (in a separate box that was obviously a wine carrier). I spoke with someone who had brought on a case, in a wine case box -- again, no problem (except for hefting all that weight).

I would not pack it in checked luggage -- it will get tossed around and that isn't good for any decent wine. As for Two Buck Chuck -- for not much more than that plus corkage you can get something better from the ship, without the hassle of bringing it along.

Sunlovey...I'm with you...I would like to know about that 6 pack carry-on! I am trying to figure out some case deal (all bottles bubble wrapped)that I can just hand over with the luggage. Something with a big handle. I don't want to be hauling on 12 bottles with my carryon! Anyway, something to think about for the next 4 months! Please let me know if anyone comes up with a new idea.
