tray4la Posted August 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2008  we are going on the independance of the seas in october with a 16 month old baby who won't be able to go in the pool. He will not be happy. Does any body know if it would be ok to take a small blow up paddling pool and fill that with pool water and have it by our deck chairs? leanrunnerboy Posted August 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2008 My suggestion is to have your travel agent contact Royal Caribbean directly - they can contact the Hotel Manager onboard to see what can be done.
reallyitsmema Posted August 24, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 24, 2008 Yes, you can bring a small blow up pool but not really the size of a paddling pool, most bring a blow up bath tub since it is smaller and can be used to bath the baby too. Your ship also has a baby splash zone with a special filtration system which diapered babies can go in but that is up to you. There is a family section on this board where you will find lots of information that might help you. :)

The IOS has an H20 Zone, which is a whole water park just for kids. It's on the same deck and just behind the main pool area. There's a big area with waterfalls, water cannons, shallow water, etc. And like reallyitsmema said, it's filtered just for the little ones. Enjoy. Just an FYI, only a small portion is filtered for the kids. It's called the Baby Zone.
cb at sea Posted August 24, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 24, 2008 Where do you plan to empty the dirty water from that pool? It's best to just use the section for diapered kids.
Administrators Rare CC Help Michell Posted August 25, 2008 Administrators #7 Share Posted August 25, 2008 Where do you plan to empty the dirty water from that pool? It's best to just use the section for diapered kids. They'd empty it into the poolside drains where hose water from deck washing goes. To the OP, there's a lot of information about doing this on the Family Cruising board here at CC -- here's a link to get you started: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=49 Have a wonderful cruise! guk Posted August 27, 2008 #9 Share Posted August 27, 2008 Hi, we've just been on the independence withour recently turned 2 year old. There is a small splash pool which babies and toddlers can go in wearing swim nappies but I would take a few toys for them to play in there with to make it more interesting for them. Proudairborne/RangerMom Posted August 27, 2008 #10 Share Posted August 27, 2008 So nice to see so many parents here concerned about bringing their diapered babies into pools. I was mortified when on Princess cruise there were two sets of parents who not only put their babies with diapers in regular pool they also took them into the hot tubs with them!!! And staff did absollutely nothing about it!! that is not safe for the babies or the other cruisers! So again I commend all of you here who know better and thank you.
