Haines to Skagway

I have friends scheduled to arrive in Haines on 09/09. Port time is 0700-2100. Can they get to Skagway to do the White Pass RR? What is thee best way? I had trouble interperting the Ferry schedule.

Yes, they can get over to ride the railway, but using the fast ferry, not the State ferry - http://hainesskagwayfastferry.com/ This is a situation where booking through the ship may be a good idea, as they book entire sailings of the ferry to get to the train.

I too suggest they book a ship excursion. The ferry schedules are NOT fixed. When I was there a few years ago, in this same Sept. timeframe, they eliminated a ferry run, that was on the "schedule" a few days prior. I inquired before hand, but didn't get the updated schedule, until I got there. Ended up being a 2 hour wait for the next ferry.
