voyager of the seas

Thanks. I forgot that it wasn't coming back to Texas until December. We sail in January and I was wondering if anyone had heard whether it would be from Galveston???? or Bayport????

There's been no announcement from RCI regarding where Voyager might be based this winter. I'll bet they are waiting to see how the Galveston recovery progresses. I saw a news story wherein someone from Galveston stated that their cruise port would be back in service sometime in October. Other posters thought that was optimistic.

anyone think (due to hurricane ike) that the voyager might possibly sail from a florida port instead of galveston/houston? we sail in jan also - guess we should just wait and see for sure where she will depart from before we buy our air- :)

I was talking to a travel specialist yesterday regarding my New Years Eve Voyager cruise and she said the plan was to sail out of Galveston. Only thing is there probably won't be many hotel rooms on the Island available, may have to stay in Houston the night before. My guess would be any available rooms would more than likely be taken up by FEMA folks and Insurance adjusters.

I don't think they would switch to Florida. Houston, maybe. There are far too many Texas folks driving to the port. They would end up with too many cancellations if they changed to Florida. We are paying for 8 people on the New Years Eve cruise and driving to the port, and I certainly wouldn't want to be put in the position of having to pay for last minute holiday airfare for 8 at the prices the airlines charge during the holidays!

the article said Oct 1st. Now how in the world could that happen. Im one with my car in Galveston that was on the doomed Conquest (yes thats how I think of the ship). My insurance agent keeps having to push the date back when they can even go look at my car to get it adjusted. Last date was Thursday, but since the residents only can start getting in on Wednesday (2nd time) Im guessing they wouldnt let outsiders in by Thursday and so I will still be in limbo.

Think of how much time is invovled getting the cars that are still parked for Ecstasy and Conquest out of there, by tow truck or whatever. People told me Hooters is GONE and I saw Ramada Ltd where many stay which looks like it was near the area where one of the three fires was, it looked that bad. Maybe it wasnt a fire, just looked that bad and black from the damage and being out in the water.

I still dont know if I can go look for a new car (mine was almost brand new, 20K miles so I know its depreciated badly) but at this point would just like to know.

My TA called me to say Ecstasy in January would cruise out of Houston. I was surprised, but guessing Carnival must have said something to have them calling every one at home. Seems like a long time out to me to be planning on a Jan cruise still not going out of Galveston, but she wanted to alert me per Carnival it was a possibility before I hit final payment.
