Phamer55 Posted October 18, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2008 Hi all. Does anyone have the e-mail that mentions a special going right now for Latitude members giving them OBC if they book a cruise right now? This is additional OBC to what is given during the CLIA sale that is going on right now. A few posters have mentioned this offer, but when I booked today, my TA was not able to get the discount for me, even after she called NCL. If you have the e-mail, please post it here! 2tnts Posted October 18, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2008 We are "in the same boat". I got the $300 OBC but did not get an additional $100 OBC that is the "secret credit". I have called twice, two different days to make sure. On the second call - I was told that I had the lowest lat pricing, so not elegible for the additional $100. We cruise on the Pearl in Sept 2009. The cruise was booked when the 2009 pricing first came out. Our cruise price has remained more than $200 less than the advertised rates on the NCL site. So I take it that since our pricing is the best rate that we were not qualified for the additional credit. I will leave it alone and take the $300 and the explanation I got and be happy. dodge9 Posted October 18, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 18, 2008 The confusion may be that the Latitude promo is not a better rate, just has the obc... tell the agent you want the latitude promo because it is offering obc... at first the ncl rep said oh it has the same rate and does you no good and then she said oh wait there in obc with it.... EmmasNana Posted October 18, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 18, 2008 I don't think there is an "official" email about the $100 OBC. When I booked my cruise the person at NCL mentioned it. I was prepared to say I heard about it from Cruise crittic board...but I didn't need to.
2tnts Posted October 18, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 18, 2008 I said I was going to leave it alone and take my $300. Well, I didn't. I called again today. Got the same story but the rep decided to check on the addition $100 OBC. Well now I got a total of $600 for OBC. Do you believe it. I went from $0 OBC to $300 OBC (10-15-08) to $600 OBC(10-18-08)
dgpdfw Posted October 18, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 18, 2008 Hello all..newbie here. I am thinking about booking a Christmas cruise on the Pearl, and was offered an OBC of $200 for booking a Mini-Suite. After seeing this discussion, I called to see if there would be an additional credit offered, as I am a Latitudes member. The agent said "nope", and said thats probably because it is a Christmas sailing. Any thoughts/ideas on this? Should I call back and ask them to check again? Thanks in advance for any info. Sure hope we are even a little bit as fortunate as you were! Thanks for sharing your great experience! I will report back as to our status should I recieve an answer. Beachbum1944 Posted October 18, 2008 #8 Share Posted October 18, 2008 I have been on the phone 2 times with NCL and 2 times with my TA, and every phone call came out with the same answer. No OBC on a cruise that was booked before and is cheaper. I would have to spend many hundred dollars more to get the OBC. They say I am eligible but only at today's price.:(
Splash85 Posted October 18, 2008 #9 Share Posted October 18, 2008 I really honestly believe that it is all about who you talk to. We got the extra OBC and I took it without asking. Then when I called to get OBC for my parents (never traveled with NCL before) they received 100 less than us. I asked why and the CC could not tell me why we were getting more than them. He said he would call his supervisor but after 5 mins of being on hold he asked me if I still wanted to wait. I asked if he would be able to get more for my parents and he said "No, you really should not be getting this much to begin with. It must have been a system error." I told him I had no questions then and hung up. And, yes, this was a previously booked cruise that had gone down 200 per person. I asked if they would please adjust my rate and apply the current special. They did so with no problem.

They all are previsous bookings, some booked as far back as January of this year. I tell everyone that i check for lower rates, when I see them come about, and I truly do. I now have 14 very happy people, especially the one that is getting a $460 discount AND $150 obc.

I was prepared to say I heard about it from Cruise crittic board...but I didn't need to. I called NCL yesterday and mentioned the $100 OBC and they said it's not available or didn't know anything about this. Do you know the person's name you spoke too? I'm wondering why some people or getting this extra $100 OBC and others are not.
Phamer55 Posted October 19, 2008 Author #12 Share Posted October 19, 2008 Yeah, it seems it's very random whether some people get the OBC or not. I was a new booking I didn't get it. I wish I had the e-mail that explained it. One poster said the deal was for cruises thru Sep 30 2009, but since I haven't seen anything in writing, I don't know if that's true or not. EmmasNana Posted October 19, 2008 #13 Share Posted October 19, 2008 BSR and Phamer55 I'm sorry I don't recall whom I spoke with...it was a female. The Sept. 2009 info is incorrect because I booked the Spirit for Nov 29 2009. I thought it was supposed to be for any advertised sailings. Interesting the price has gone up $100pp since I booked. I will not complain. It sounds like some people are getting double OBC. I was not that lucky.
elron Posted October 20, 2008 #14 Share Posted October 20, 2008 "No, you really should not be getting this much to begin with. It must have been a system error." Just make sure you have it(OBC) on your final statement from NCL's site before you cruise. I was suppose to get $100 OBC from a sale promo NCL was offering and never received it even though my cruise qualified. Something about a glitch too! BUMMER! CruisnGram Posted October 20, 2008 #15 Share Posted October 20, 2008 This isn't uncommon, to get different answers each time you call. Last Friday, I called to see if I qualified for the OBC that was being offered on the one day sale. I had booked through NCL's Casino At Sea program. The young lady who answered said that she wasn't sure but that she would try. It went right through and I got a slightly lower price on the cruise and a $300 OBC. I immediately called my cousin who is on the same sailing, same category cabin, same number of people in the room, and had also booked through CAS. Told her to call them to get her OBC. She did and got someone else on the phone who told her that she wasn't eligible unless she cancelled and rebooked and if she did that, her cruise price would be much higher. When my cousin told me, I got her reservation # from her and called CAS back, asking to speak to the rep that I had had. I told her what I needed for my cousin and she said "no problem" and put it right through. Same thing as me...$300 OBC and a slightly less cruise cost. Bottom line is if you think that you are eligible for something, don't take one person's word for it. NCL is notorious for their reservation staff giving various answers to different people. UKfanfromVA Posted October 20, 2008 #16 Share Posted October 20, 2008 I was able to get both a fare deduction and $250 in OBC - $150 was because we have a balcony and $100 was for Latitudes. Our online TA did advertise this sale so they were quick to oblige when I called - of course they charge a $35 fee for the reservation change. In case it helps, our new codes on the European NCL website where I can see our booking details (not available on the US NCL site) are: Promo Code Promo Name DMPP6 LATITUDES PROMOTAWLCN WLC OBCThus you might ask for 'DMPP6' to get the $50/person Latitude OBC since 'TAWLCN' is the code for the current sale OBC. LA_FadeAway Posted October 22, 2008 #18 Share Posted October 22, 2008 I had my TA call and ask about this yesterday. He even gave them the promo code listed in the post above. NCL told him that I could only have that or the $150 for a balcony cabin offered in the current sale, not both. Bummer, it seems a lot of people are getting both. ajrich Posted October 22, 2008 #19 Share Posted October 22, 2008 I just booked the Jan 11th cruise on the Pearl with a balcony guarantee and received 200 in OBC. I don't know how I got the extra $50 over the $150 that was advertised.
NW Pacific Posted October 22, 2008 #20 Share Posted October 22, 2008 We received both the "great sale OBC" and the Latitudes OBC. After receiving the first OBC I was a little embarassed to call our TA about the Latitudes one on this Board I saw mentioned, well I did, and she called back and said we received that also. NCL had already put it into the "system" so what I gather is anyone that is a Latitude member will receive it without asking, obvioulsy it goes on the category you are booked in from $50.00 to $500.00. We have not made final payment yet, don't know if this makes a difference.
