pjamk Posted October 26, 2008 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2008 Does the captain stay on sailing port time? or does he change it as the ship travels into different time zones in destination ports?
Rare Roz Posted October 26, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 26, 2008 99% of the time you will adjust clocks to local port time. There will be a notecard on your pillow with a piece of chocolate letting you know when clocks go back or forward. There will also be something in the daily program. Krazy Kruizers Posted October 26, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 26, 2008 In the Caribbean the ships we have been on have always changed the clocks to agree with the port time. A couple of places on the west coast when we do the Mexican Riviera, the ship did not change the clocks.
Rare Roz Posted October 26, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 26, 2008 KK is correct. There was one port in Mexico (don't remember which one) where we didn't change. Roz

Roz Puerto Vallarta, because the time zone line is only a mile or two from the pier and excursions take place in both time zones.
pjamk Posted October 26, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted October 26, 2008 We have been on HAL, Carnival and RCL. The OOsterdam is the only ship that we have been on that changed time. It seems to vary, even within the cruise lines. Wondering if anyone has done the Southern Car. itinerary on the Noordam and what their experience was. RuthC Posted October 26, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 26, 2008 The OOsterdam is the only ship that we have been on that changed time. I've been on 11 of the current HAL ships, (and two previous ones), on many and varied itineraries. All of them have changed time when changing time zones.
