Enjoy your trip. Many Thanks Kevin

transatlantic fan Posted November 20, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 20, 2008 You could smoke at a small part of the bar and a couple of tables in August of this year.
patwell Posted November 20, 2008 #5 Share Posted November 20, 2008 I have just returned from the eastbound leg of the Tandem Crossing. On that voyage smoking policies inside were as follows: No smoking Commodore Club anymore, or the Chart Room....there is a designated small area in Golden Lion but smoking is not allowed there during the lunch period, I believe it was 12-3PM. Smoking in G-32 on the port side upper level and anywhere in the Casino. (they will hold one non smoking night). On deck there are designated areas as well and they will be posted in your daily programme. Smoking was still permitted in one's cabin. For those of us who do smoke, Churchill's ( starboard side just off the Commodore Club) has become quite the happening place at night. There was always lively conversation and an interesting camaraderie. It reminded many of us of what it must have been like in the smoking rooms onboard the ship of old. Easy to pop in and out of the Commodore and enjoy both places. Hope this helps.... Arubalisa Posted November 20, 2008 #8 Share Posted November 20, 2008 Any question I can answer while onboard I will for sure try....Tim Thanks Tim. Had a couple of questions about Sir Samuel... I understand there is a charge for the wine, but is there a charge for the cheese? How much is the Cappuccino at the coffee bar? What time do they open in the morning? Thanks so much, looking forward to your photos.
billet Posted November 20, 2008 #9 Share Posted November 20, 2008 Arubalisa I did not notice your name in the roll call for the sailing. We have a meet and greet at 3pm in the Commodore's lounge on Nov 22nd. It is a self serve bar and I have asked (but not yet confirmed) for tea to be served too. About 50 people have said they are interested so please do come and introduce yourself. We might be able to help build that photo collection too. smoothdancer Posted November 21, 2008 #14 Share Posted November 21, 2008 One of the joys of sailing QM is that we can drive to the pier, it is so much more relaxing when you dont have to catch a flight. LOL, I too am on this cruise too and I wont be posting here while on board. I am banging away at a computer everyday at work and I like the reprieve when sailing. patwell Posted November 21, 2008 #18 Share Posted November 21, 2008 Hello from the king court! Ok folks I have been on a lot of cruises but this ship takes my breath away. Folks this is a treat:) You haven't seen anything yet!!!:D She is one awesome lady. Enjoy the magic of the Commodore Club late at night and do plan to be all the way up on top for that spectacular sail under the Verrazanno Bridge. It happens fast but it will WOW you when it does! DOn't miss it no matter how cold it might be. When we sailed this time last year it was quite nippy up there but you're so excited you don't notice! It was almost balmy when we sailed the Tandem in Oct and I found I missed that cold air up top. Do enjoy...let us know what changes have been made. The Chart Room seems to be the biggest question for all of us who know her. Hopefully my clawmarks are still in the Commodore Club!! Cheers, Penny Penny’s Affair to Remember QM2 Review http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=471053 November 10,2007...the “Affair” continued...did it ever! RobertGraves Posted November 22, 2008 #20 Share Posted November 22, 2008 Hi Tim, Thank you for sharing your photos with us. I noticed that you posted a photo of your Lady in the renovated Chart Room, but it shows only towards the Britannia Restaurant. If you 're reading this, can you please post a photo of the Chart Room towards the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar? Robert, very curious about the new look of this beloved place. avalon1025 Posted November 22, 2008 #21 Share Posted November 22, 2008 looks like the furniture of the Chart room has been changed, larger chairs now in the style of those on the QV. Sad, that room was so wonderful as it was. Hopefully we can get a photo of the entire room to judge if Cunard has ruined the ambiance of such a great public space. Rotterdam Posted November 23, 2008 #23 Share Posted November 23, 2008 I too like the CHart Room on QM2(loved QE2 Chart Room)....but those small chairs were not comfortable to get in & out of....after a couple of drinks - it was like being in a bean chair......but the room is beautiful..... looks like the furniture of the Chart room has been changed, larger chairs now in the style of those on the QV. Sad, that room was so wonderful as it was. Hopefully we can get a photo of the entire room to judge if Cunard has ruined the ambiance of such a great public space. dougnewmanatsea Posted November 24, 2008 #24 Share Posted November 24, 2008 From that photo the new Chart Room chairs aren't too attractive but worse to me is the very ugly new carpet, which looks like it should be on a Princess ship or QUEEN VICTORIA. (Then again, the Chart Room carpet from QUEEN VICTORIA would be far more suitable than this.) I would not be at all surprised if over time we see QM2's carpets replaced with "corporate" patterns that can also be seen on other ships. If the "wave" pattern found in Princess cabin passageways ever finds its way to QM2 there will be hell to pay....
RobertGraves Posted November 24, 2008 #25 Share Posted November 24, 2008 The success of QM2's decor is based among others on its restrained character, and such carpet designs violate this exemplar. Almost anything 'less' would be more acceptable. Why Carnival chose to spend their money on altering this harmonious and successful place continues to puzzle me.
