We booked a Category H guarantee, found out today our cabin assignment:

 

Category C!!! I'm so excited. :D

 

Does anyone have any experience with this cabin or similar (promenade deck) on Maasdam?

Congratulations! We stayed in C322 and loved it - about 10 steps away to the beautiful wrap around deck and far enough away to help walk off some of the food. Merry Christmas!!!

I'm not a teacher, but rather a mother to a preschooler and I love it when my child chooses a Miss Nelson/Viola Swamp book to read together. One of my favorite characters!! :)

Your cabin on Lower Promenade will be slightly smaller than other outside cabins on Main Deck, but is otherwise excellent. As others have said, you are but steps away from the largest veranda on the ship. You will be able to get to/from lifeboat drill easily. That's always a plus!

The Maasdam, as are all the S-class ships, is small enough that it's easy to get to anywhere else on the ship quickly. You're never far away.

The only down side that I can think of (based on my experience) is that the cat C's far forward are directly under the show lounge and it can be kinda noisy.

Congratulations! Merry Christmas. I enjoyed the Maasdam, because it was so easy for my mom and I to get around. She never got lost like she does on larger ships.

So that floor opens directly to the lower promenade, we don't have to go upstairs/downstairs to access it? Just down the hall and around a corner to the outside of the ship?

Congrats on the great upgrade! Now that Christmas is about over, maybe the upgrade fairy will get busy and visit me! With my luck though, Santa will tell the No Upgrade Troll that I was a bad boy this year (but even if that happens, I will still be happy). :)
