does biodegradable sunscreen 'work' as well as regular?

I read that we have to have it for one of the places we're going, so I went and got some, but I'm skeptical as to how well it works. Have any of you used it? Mine is Burt's Bees Chemical-Free SPF 30.

It should, but the fact is since some beaches actually require/request you use it if you want to use their facilities you don't have much choice. I've seen several beaches in the Caribbean where they specifically request their guests use it because of the damaging effects of regular sunscreen on the coral and sea life.

I used it last year for a vacation in Mexico (the Mexitan brand, SPF 15) and I thought it worked fine. It is harder to apply though. Make sure you shake it very well and put it on in the shade. If I put it on in the sun, it dried too fast and got flaky.
