What is the price of specialty and brewed coffee. Trying to decide if we need to buy the coffee card. Also, is coffee available at no charge all day at the buffet? Thanks.

 

Brewed coffee is either $1 or $1.50 - specialty coffees (latte, capuccino, etc start at $2.50 and up. The Coffee card is your best bet - $24 for 15 specialty coffees and unlimited brewed coffee. Yes, coffee is available 24/7 in the buffet, but it is not the fresh brewed.

Yes, it includes all of the specialty coffees, no matter the price, but

one punch per espresso shot. Sometimes they will give you a double and just punch once,tho.

the coffee card is the best thing going. Not only do you get the 15 specialty coffees which are excellent by the way, but as long as you have one punch left in the card, you get unlimited fresh brewed coffee from the lobby bar/international cafe, in the casino and in the bars that serve coffee. We can't tolerate the syrup stuff (taste like instant coffee) served in the Horizon buffet. The card can also travel with you from cruise to cruise, ship to ship, as long as one punch is left.

One question. If you punch out all of your specialty coffees, can you still use the card for the rest of the cruise for brewed coffee? How do they tell the difference?

it's my understanding that when the punches are gone, the card is no longer valid. We just bought a second card and kept the first one with one punch left so that hubby could get regular coffee and I could use the new one for my mochas!

No! once it is all punched you can not use it for coffee, so keep one hole unpunched for free coffee.

That's for the coffee card info--I was wondering about this. As you can tell by my name--I'm a complete coffee junkie. We will be on the Golden in Sept to Alaska. Tell me what your favorite specialty drinks are? I'm not a big foo-foo coffee drinking but I'm thinking in Alaska it might be yummy, I love my Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce Latte. Has it always been this way with no fresh brewed? We sailed the Ocean Princess back in 2002 and I don't remember the buffet or room service coffee being terrible, but maybe I was just in awe of everything else.

Most cruise lines use the 'syrup' coffee as does Princess. Coffee is available through room service although the coffee card for fresh brewed coffee can only be used at the International Cafe'.

Just to clarify, room service coffee is the syrup type as is the dining room's (although I must say both of those taste better than the Horizon Court variety; I can tolerate them).

 

The coffee card can be used in many venues and not just the International Cafe. I used it multiple times in the casino, Explorer's Lounge and at another bar/lounge who's name escapes me at the moment!

Yes, you can. We each have a card so we don't have to have 24/7 togetherness when the caffeine urge hits.

here's the link to Princess website for times that the various venues are open. The International Cafe is not 24 hours on the Ruby! I hope it's open 24 hours on the CB when it's finished! I will be horribly disappointed.

Interesting, because I had assumed the Ruby was like the Crown which definitely was open 24 hours. Since my first cup is always brewed in my cabin, I would never need to be down there before 7:00 AM.

I'm a 5 AM wanderer even on vacation! Hard as I try, I can't break the habit. I just might have to find something small to bring to make coffee in the room. What do you use?

 

I have a one cup Melitta; have had it for years. Very small and compact in its own case. Try Ebay.
