Iris5383 Posted January 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2009 We booked a cruise this week and when we did HAL asked our travel agent if we would accept a complimentary upgrade if one was available. :) We said yes. What are the chances we will get an upgrade? Thanks!

What are the chances we will get an upgrade? Thanks! There's too many variables to put a specific number on it, but I'll tell you that your chances are far less if you chose a particular cabin than if you booked a guarantee. IMO the chances with the guarantee are excellent, as we have gotten free upgrades all 7 times we did so. :)
Desdemona01 Posted January 8, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 8, 2009 Just realize that with a guarantee you could be assigned a handicapped cabin. Some people like them but others do not like the roll-in shower and lack of bathtub, higher toilet, missing shelf under the sink, and lack of a loveseat for seating. Upgrades are whimsical and seem to follow no logical pattern. Be sure and originally pick a cabin/category that you will be happy with in case that's the one you get. Have a great cruise! Iris5383 Posted January 9, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted January 9, 2009 I appreicate your replies. We did choose a cabin already and we'd be happy there. I guess we'll just wait and see.
KAKcruiser Posted January 9, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 9, 2009 HAL will give you an upgrade if they need your cabin for some reason. In general, the room you book is what you get.
