Are casino age rules enforced?

I read on Princess' website that only those over 21 will be allowed to enter and play in the casino. Now, I (20) won't be playing much probably, but my boyfriend who is 24 will spend lots of time in there. Will I be able to be around him or will I be denied access?

You could probably be around but they do check people players if they appear to be underage. :)

Your cruise card will show that you are under 21. This will stop you fom drinking and gambling.

Like Las Vegas they will check you if you look underage. If you win and you are underage they will keep the winnings.

Here is from the Princess web site under Casino Rules:

Admission

 

Persons under the age of 21 are not permitted to gamble or loiter on the casino floor. Proof of age may be required to be shown.

 

 

Now what is the definition of LOITER, different ships and staff may define it differently. Notice it says MAY BE required. One never knows as things are not consistent between ships and even in ships. You can see what happens by being in the casino but don't loiter.

We are together almost always, from being at the pool during the day, going to dinner, playing a few casino games before each nights show is usually how it goes. I just don't want to have to stand outside the entrance if I'm not allowed in there. We are looking into many different cruises and have not yet settled on Princess because of this issue. The prices however are fantastic, which is what got us interested in them to begin with. I just want to get all my bases covered before booking such a big trip.

Why do you feel the need to judge other people's relationships? The poor girl asked for advice about Princess' policies, not relationships.

 

My fiancee loves to lay in the sun for a few hours here and there when on vacation. Being fair skinned, this isn't my idea of fun, sometimes I join her for a bit, but usually I choose to do someting else. Regardless of my choice, she still lays out.

 

Does this mean we have a bad relationship because she does something she knows I don't enjoy?

Beachbabie- It sounds like you will not be gambling just enjoying your BF's company. I don't think you'll have a problem just watching the casinos are pretty busy. Enjoy Princess I don't think you'll be disappointed:)

I have never seen them ask for Id. I remember when I was your age I would always be asked for Id when I purchased liquor. The drinking age was 18 then. It really is going to depend on your appearance. If you are like my wife who was always mistaken for being older then she was you will have no problem.

It will all depend if you look under or over 21. No one stops people at the doors to check ID. Chances are as long as you look as if you could be over 21 not a word will be said to you. They are interested in keeping their passengers happy not upsetting them so its not something they enforce at all cost. It is true that if you should be playing the slots and win a major jackpot there will be paperwork to be filled out and then there could be a problem but just stay close to your BF and he can take the win for you and all will be well. Just play with cash and not your sign and sail card in the machine.

 

The worse that could happen is that they do decide you appear to be under 21 and ask for ID they would simply remind you of the rule. Really not a big deal and they would do it very nicely. Again, unless you look young (something you'll be happy about in a few years:D) its not something I would worry about. Enjoy your cruise.

I really don't think you will have a problem unless you are gambling and then they might not even check. I think mostly they look to run out the young kids and teenagers. Hope you have a great time!:)

Often in the casinos people are just walking through to get to another part of the ship, like an expanded hallway with slot machines and music. I've taken my kids through them with no problem. If you stop with a little one, then you have a problem, otherwise probably not.

dont worry, you won't be questioned... im 22 and have been on cruises since i was 10, no one has ever asked if I'm watching a family member play something!!

im 17 (i do look pretty old tho) and i played video poker every night before dinner with my grandma, never was asked for id.

On the last night i played black jack with my dad, no id was asked for.

When we were in the Caribbean our 18 year old played the slots, no one ever questioned her and she is 5'1" and 110 lbs. She doesn't look 13. Don't worry, go sit, enjoy and have a great cruise.

I did misunderstand on my first reply. I can't believe you will have a problem being your BF's good luck charm. Interact with the dealers and the pit bosses, have fun and everyone else will too. Good luck, hope he wins big and buys you a bobble!
