also looking forward to reading about all the new updates on the Veendam since we're planning on booking a Bermuda cruise for 2010.

Especially want to hear about that new pool area that's replacing the aft pool.

Jim & Ruth,

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to occupy yourselves taking pictures to satisfy all of us CC people about the new changes to the Veendam. ;)

Your mission objectives to date are to photograph the following areas:

1) New Aft Veranda Staterooms on Navigation deck

2) New Lounge Pool (Retreat) area on Lido deck

3) Lanai Staterooms on Lower Promenade deck

4) Glass wall around the Sky deck

This thread will self destruct in 10 postings due to the following message:

(Since you can't do the puffing thing in the Ocean Bar anymore, I found the Starboard side of the Crow's Nest to be an acceptable alternative. There was a small group of regulars and the bar staff was pretty attentive. Best of luck!)

OK MAY 1 st

Jim It has been a long day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think that the April 1st was wishful thinking on your part... Better to depart in 4 days than a month and 4 days! :D But were you packed yet?!?

I too will be eagerly awaiting your pictures... Thanks, and have a wonderful trip!

Ruth & Jim,

Not sure if you saw this... are you up for a little 'espionage' for interested CC'ers who want to know?

Some interesting pics from the HAL blog on Veendam's drydock. After leaving Tampa, she arrived at the Grand Bahama shipyard in Freeport, the Bahamas last Saturday, 28 MAR 09. She will be there for 35 days as the first of five ships to undergo some pretty extensive "Signature of Excellence - part 2" modifications.

My wife and I will be on this ship tomorrow and are looking forward to seeing it. This is our first HAL cruise so we will not be able to compare it to the way it was before. I hope the work is done and the ships is not a construction zone the 13 days we are on it :).
