We've had very good luck using Priceline for good hotels in downtown Miami and the last few times we have bid $60-$65 a night and been successful in getting the Hilton which is next door to the Marriott Biscayne Bay and has great views of the ships in the harbor and also has a good restaurant. Prices for good hotels in Miami will vary significantly depending on when you want to stay there, but Priceline is, IMHO, well worth the effort.:) You may be able to find a hotel in your stated price range, out by the airport, but you may pay out a good part of your savings in the increased cost of a taxi to the pier.

I am staying 2 nights in feb. before cruising .

Itis costing me aroud $175. a night!

At another time of the year, that same room will probably cost a third less than that. Hotel prices, especially in popular locations, will vary by a considerable amount depending on when you wish to stay and what is going on in the area on those dates.

http://www.hotelsbythepier.com will show you where the hotel is located. http://www.tripadvisor.com will give you reviews. I've posted this several times in the past but the information is so useful that I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on the sites. Priceline is a great resource. You can go to http://www.betterbidding.com or http://www.biddingfortravel.com to see what hotels people are getting for their bids. We recently stayed at the Intercontinental on the water in Miami as we got a really good government rate. And, they cheerfully - and at no charge - upgraded us to a wonderful room with a spectacular waterview. We were quite impressed. We walked to the Bayside Market and ate at the American Latin Cafe. It was so good and such fun that we walked back for breakfast that cost all of $4.99 for eggs, bacon and toast.
