Restaurants in Isle Verde

We are staying at the Intercontinental for a couple of days pre-cruise. I'm thinking of trying Tangerine, but have read mixed reviews. Can someone give me their experience or recommend something else.

We stayed one night pre cruise. through Priceline - great hotel. Went to Ruth Chris for dinner and it was fabulous. I know a lot of people write about how pricey the restaurants are in the hotel, but I found them reasonable. I'm from NY and a good steak house is always pricey.

 

 

We had a wonderful and we're hoping to go back one night precruise next February.

I was checking out the site for Metropol which looks yummy but I do have a question. What form of currency do they use in SJ? The prices were confusing because they use a comma.

Puerto Rico is a US Territory and, as such, we use the US $ just like in the States.

Thanks for the quick response. I thought it was US dollars but it threw me off when I saw the commma (ie: 19,95) Thanks again. Do you agree with the recommendation of Metropol? It looks very good.

Ruth's Chris closed their doors in San Juan on Feb 28th.

metropol was so "bad" we ate there two nights in a row!:p:D

 

we got some sort of combo platters that had IIRC beef and pork and i think they let us swap something we didn't like for a different item (different beef or pork or maybe chicken!)

 

it should only be 10 minutes away if that!

 

not fancy, kind of a locals type of place.....we really enjoyed it!

If you do a search you will probably find it. I do remember thinking

it sounds very good:D

I also remember reading about a restaurant across from the Intercontinental that was in another hotel....like a howard johnsons or something. Can't remember the name....I think it had outside dining...can anyone help me out?

There are several restaurants and hotels in the area. You could be talking about the El San Juan hotel or the Beach & Water Club (Tangerine) next door. Also a short walk away is the Embassy Suites with an Outback Steakhouse. There is a freestanding latin restaurant nearby that is not bad either.

Kurt, have you been to Metropol before? I was checking out the menu and that sure looks good. I guess where we eat depends on where we meet in SJ. We are staying at the Intercontinental. Are you staying there too? Without going back to our thread, I can't remember. Have a great day.

I am not sure where Metropol is. Judging from the map on Tripadvisor it is very near the airport so it can't be too far.

 

Gina & I are right next to you at The Beach and Water Club. You have The Beach and Water Club, then the Intercontinental and finally the El San Juan in that order coming from the airport.

 

It will be great seeing you and I believe also #4 is at the Intercontinental as well as others. I am sure that at least one evening of ours will be spent at the casino in the El San Juan.

We just stayed there in May. Nice. Go for and oceanfront room if you can. Pay for the upgrade. There's a little restaurant across the street from the hotel, Mi Casita or something like that, that is very good. Inexpensive and delish.
