List of excursions?

All the cruiselines have them online. Just look there. It doesn't matter which one, they are all similar and will at least give you an idea. There are also port visitor guides to consider http://www.skagway.com http://www.traveljuneau.com http://www.visit-ketchikan.com

Then head to your library and take out Fodor's Alaska, Frommers Alaska, and Alaska by Cruiseship. Port information there as well.

Thanks for the replies.

BQ - I've been reading Alaska for Dummies which has quite a

lot of info in it and I like the layout. It just seems like there's so

much more out there to choose from online. Thank you for all

your help so far. There will be many more questions until I

get this thing completely booked. Thanks in advance for putting

up with me!!!

Grey Eyes - I would love your list too.

Are you doing any independent tours as they are cheaper than the cruise lines.

Thanks

I have been booking most of my excursions independantly, because of the recommendations from the people on this board. Although I am booking a few with the cruiseline, this is because they are not offered otherwise.

Independent tours can be cheaper, they can be longer than their ship equivalents, and they almost always involve much smaller groups. You just have to evaluate on a case-by-case basis.

Thank you for the packing list links. These seem to be generic travel lists. Does a list exist specifically for cruisers?

I have a standard set of things I pack and I am used to traveling very light. I will be on my first large-ship cruise soon and I have the funny feeling that there will be stuff that I need to account for, above and beyond what I usually pack.

For a cruise to Alaska, should I bring my own thermos cup? my own fleece throw? :D Thanks!
