Tahitian Princess Questions!

Recommended Posts

We're booked on the Tahitian Princess for the Baltic/British Isles itinerary May12th...our first on Princess!

Are the food areas the same as other ships or since it's such a small ship are they different?

Do the showers have hand held shower heads?

How's the closet space?

Is the food better since they only have to get meals ready for 670 instead of 3000?

Any other tips for a first time Princess sailor?

Thanks in advance!

Frances

You may get some of your questions answered visually by the pictures of the Tahitian Princess at http://fp.caribill.com/

There is only one main dining room and it is traditional, not anytime. Food when we were on the ship was very good. Service was excellent.

The specialty restaurants, although in differant rooms, are only open one at a time.

The buffet is single line service, not like the Horizon Court buffet areas on the larger ships.

No International Cafe as on many of the Grand class ships.

It is a great little ship. You will enjoy being on it.

Your pictures are fabulous. I can't wait to go on a small ship again.

Your pics answered all my questions but one...are their hand held shower heads?

The bathrooms do look a bit small!

Thanks so much for your quick response!

Caribill described everything accurately. I'm only "chiming in" to say that we sailed on the Tahitian Princess from Tahiti to Hawaii two years ago and LOVED the small ship experience. You will really get to know both the staff and your fellow cruisers in a much different way than you can on large ships. Many have described some of the common areas of the ship as feeling much like and English country inn.

We sailed on the Tahiti / French Polynesia itinerary on the Tahitian in November, and it was a wonderful experience. The Tahitian is a lovely ship, and we enjoyed every minute aboard her. It was my first time on a smaller ship, and I'd love to sail on her again.

As I recall, the shower was not a hand held type, but we were in a minisuite, and the set-up was a tub/shower. It could be different in a regular cabin, where there is just a shower stall.

What was interesting was the hair dryer. It was in the bathroom and was a box on the wall with a stretchy vacuum-type hose that the heated air blew out of (different from the other Princess ships I've been on, in that those hair dryers are at the desk and are like the usual portable type but with a weak air flow).

We loved friendly atmosphere and felt it enhanced our ability to meet lots of people and make new friends. It's a much more intimate setting than the big ships with +/- 200 passengers.

We found the food to be very good, and in all areas, the service was excellent.

Sailed on her to FP in October and it was was a wonderful cruise, my favourite Princess experience, the small ship is so friendly and elegant. Would agree with the previous poster re the hairdryer, I managed but think I would take a small travel one if I went on this ship again which I really hope to do so. Can't remember about the shower head though. There is also only Traditional Dining, early and late, no anytime, a first for us.

We were on the Tahitian Princess last summer for a 2-week Alaskan cruise. While it is a nice little ship, there are definite signs of wear and tear especially in the cabins. Also, in some of the public lounges, it is very difficult to separate the smoking from the nonsmoking areas. One of the cocktail lounges is flows into the very smoky casino. If I remember correctly, the ship is due to be upgraded and reflagged as the Ocean Princess some time in 2009/2010.:)

Thanks to all for your info!

I can deal with the hair dryer problem...a short bob takes care of that!

I can't wait to leave. We had two sailings on the Seabreeze before she sank just off our coast a few years ago. They were the best two cruises we've taken. We almost knew everyone by sight at the end of the cruise. The food I think is better when you're only preparing and serving 300-400 at a time instead of thousands!

Pucture 006 in the Cabin Life section of the link from post #2 shows the hair drier.

Don't know if the attached picture answers the question or not. The picture is of the shower on the Royal Princess, a very similar ship to the Tahitian Princess.
