Rare MMDown Under Posted March 22, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2009 In this economic downturn, has anyone noticed an increase in the number of senior discounts on offer, or abolition of singles surcharges, for last minute bookings? Cruising is a perishable product. Once a ship sails, an empty cabin remains empty. I believe there is a niche market of seniors, available to travel at shorter notice than those in the workforce, who would love to cruise more often, if the price was right. Rare LHT28 Posted March 22, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2009 I noticed Oceania has reduced the single Sup on some of the cruises to 25% instead of the usually 100%
kitty9 Posted March 22, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 22, 2009 Celebrity is offering some really nice reductions on a number of their sailings for the 55+ set. On some I noticed a saving of more than $700. I believe I saw one where the price for 55+ was over $1000 for a balcony cabin.
