It's there...Honest!

I am looking at the screen right now.

Go to the HAL site >> For Booked Guests >> Onboard gifts >> Gift selection>> < log in at this point > Select recipients >>choose gifts >> Beverage cards are the second icon from the left on the top row.

It shows wine cards, beverage cards, sodas, signature cocktail cards, coffee cards, etc.

Now You Tell Us how to do it.

:D You're welcome?!

Don't bother with the downloadable gift order form, it's not complete.

I keep ordering stuff from the website, and we still have 60+ days to go.

The DH is going to cut me off soon from ordering!

And we haven't even started on the excursion list. We're like a couple of kids going to Disneyland.

In my experience, all those various cards are pushed while onboard the ship; in fact, they're often even for sale in the terminal before you board. So, there may be no need to purchase them ahead of time, unless your goal is to minimize sticker shock on the last day of the cruise.

In my experience, the wine card can be shared (I'm assuming you're in the same cabin).

The wine card was not pushed at all on last week's Westerdam cruise. If I had not read about it on CC, I would not have even known of its existence.

I purchased mine at the Ocean Bar, but also saw people buying their's in the dining room, and in the Queen's Lounge. As far as i know it is good at any bar, including the Lido pools. On the last day at sea, our regular waiter brought us a bottle of the wonderful house Pino Grigio and charged us only four punches as that is what we had remaining on our card.

We bought one wine card for the two of us on the Westerdam last week. I waited until we were on the ship and purchased it from our wine steward at dinner. I figured he might as well be the one who received credit for the gratuity.

The wine stewards and bartenders don't seem to care who is using it. You could buy a glass for everyone at your table or order glasses for other people at a bar if you wanted to.

Perhaps my choice of words was not the best in my post above, but what I meant by "pushed" is that all these cards are for sale while onboard the ship. Thanks for your clarification:)

Many thanks Dandro. I feel like a total idiot (probably true). Your instructions worked fine.

At the risk of boring everyone with my constant questions I am wondering if there is any reason we should purchase the wine cards prior to our cruise. I gather from the posts in this thread that we can easily buy the cards on-board and that they even have a slightly lower cost (due to no taxes). Any advice is appreciated. After helping folks for years on the port/Med boards (several thousand posts) it feels good to be leaning on others for good advice :)

I too have read people say that it is cheaper to purchase the wine cards on board because of no taxes. I am not sure where this information comes from, as it has been my experience that the wine, cocktail or coffee cards are the same price whether purchased in advance or onboard. Some people prefer to purchase in advance and allieviating that expense at the end of the cruise and they will have their card waiting for them in their cabin. On the other hand they are easy enough to purchase once onboard. I think it comes down to having options and personal preference.

I hope that clears it up for you. Nice to answer a question for someone who's posts on the ports of call boards have provided me with a wealth of information. Thanks for everything you do over there. I am sure it is appreciated my many more than just myself.

Have a great cruise.

On our last World Cruise we ordered a glass of wine after boarding up by the pool. The server suggested we buy a wine card because they were giving a few dollars off for that day only. I think it was about $10 off on a 20 pour card. We bought one and the steward brought the card and two glasses of wine without punching the card. We only paid for the card.

We and the others at our dinner table use to kid the wine steward during the remainder of the cruise to give us the discount but he could not do it.

I am not sure if this was something HAL did only on our cruise or if a one day discount is normal. But this may be a reason to wait until you board. On the other hand I have seen on this board that the card is being discontinued. I was not sure how true this is so I bought 2 cards on line for our next 63 day cruise.

This was our first time also. Go to HAL website and head under booked guests. Scroll down and there will be a place to order gifts. When you click, it pulls up a lot of stuff you can order. My friend and I ordered the wine cards and the beverae cards ahead of time and they will be in our staterooms when we board. We had to call the customer service to order the Sommilier's Package ... it includes 5 bottles of wine, a present, entry into two wine tastings and a bottle of speciality HAL wine. We paid $300 something for 2 but can be bought as a single. Hope this helps.

Great, my drink is usually a blue martini or two ..... And a bloody Mary at breakfast sometimes ..... I did read no well drinks, so guess the gin and tonics go on the account!! I appreciate you taking time to clarify!!

On our Noordam cruises in Feb they were running out of wine cards. We were told that HAL will soon be doing away them.

You can get them at any bar/lounge.

House wine card -- 10 glasses for $41.40

House wine card -- 20 glasses for $77.63

Those prices include the 15% gratuity.

Once again, incorrect information.

They are not doing away with them!

I just checked HAL's site -- I also could not see the wine cards, coffee cards, signature drink cards or soda cards.

Usually I throw out the Gift Guide that comes with our documents -- I didn't this time -- the cards are not listed in the new Gift Guide.

Yes they are!

DutchByAssociation has told us that the wine cards will be changing in some way from the form that we now have, but he (or is Dutch a she?) is not at liberty to tell us yet how the new card will work.

The price you pay on-line and the price you pay at sea are the same, but in some ports (such as those in FL) state sales taxes my be applied if you buy them in the terminal or while the ship is not yet far enough out to sea. When the casino opens, there will no longer be any danger of paying state sales taxes.

I feel that it is best to purchase the wine card from the person who will be be serving most me most of the time. For me, that is the dining room wine steward/ess. Even if the 15% service charge on the card is pooled with all of the bar staff, I believe that there are some "credits" or benefits given to the seller.

Hi There, You can use your wine card everywhere on the ship except the dining room/pinnacle. I just got off Eurodam 1.5 weeks ago and used it all over the ship. There is another card - Cocktail Card - for specialty drinks...

Hope that helps.

Wendy:)

We used ours in dining room and in at Pinnacle.
