Covered/Uncovered Balcony website

I've been searching as I know this website has been mentioned before on a thread but can't seem to pin it down.

I'm trying to find out on the Diamond/Sapphire/Coral/Island ships which decks have covered/partial/uncovered balconies.

Many thanks!

The link doesn't work for me. Are others able to open it?

We really love Princess but absolutely hate the open / tiered balconies. Does anyone have info re: Caribbean / Ruby and if there are any private balconies? Our preference would be a covered balcony where you do not look down into any others. We booked an inside for December, but would upgrade if we could be certain of privacy. Thanks!

The correct link is as follows, but this only covers the Coral/Island ships. For the Grand Class, which covers all the ships over 100,000 tonnes, most of the Lido, Riviera Aloha and Baha balconies are fully covered, but they are the small 5ft deep ones with only 2 chairs, and of course you do look down on all the open balconies. Caribe has standard balconies of 9ft deep with about one third uncovered (my preference), Dolphin has mainly mini suites with 9ft balconies which are totally uncovered. Finally Emerald has fully covered balconies and of course you don't look down on anyone as this is the last balcony deck, but it has only a very few.

There are one or two exceptions on most decks but you need an expert for these, which of course your TA should be!

following refers to 'side' of ship balconies only, i.e. those on starboard or port sides of any ‘Grand’ class ship (Grand, Golden, Star, Diamond, Sapphire, Caribbean, Crown, Emerald etc) and not any balconies that face directly aft....

Baja deck balconies are sized 9 ft. wide x 5 ft. deep and have full ceiling overhang. Lido, Aloha, Riviera (found on Caribbean, Crown, Emerald, Ruby only) decks have the same balconies. You can stand at the railing of these balconies and look down on to part of the Caribe deck balconies and all of the Dolphin deck balconies.

Caribe deck balconies are sized 9 ft. wide x 9 ft. deep and have ceiling overhang over the first 5 ft. Standing at the railing, you will overlook Dolphin deck balconies below.

All of the cabin interiors/bathrooms of the balcony cabins are the same with respect to size (unless it is a handicapped cabin).

Dolphin deck balconies (all balcony cabins are actually mini-suites and thus bigger than regular balcony cabins on the interior with sitting area, 2nd TV and bathtub/shower combination instead of the small shower stall found in the regular balcony cabins). The balcony is sized 9 ft. wide x 7 ft. deep and has no ceiling overhang as protection from sun or rain.

Emerald deck has several mini-suites each side with fully covered balconies. The last mini-suite cabin towards aft end on each side has extra wide balcony – approximately 7 ft. deep x 18 wide, according to someone who stayed in one of these. Emerald deck on some Grand Class ships also has some regular balcony cabins near the front that have the balconies set back under the roof and back from the railing. You look straight out to the water but cannot look down on the water. The walking track goes past these balconies and walkers can see you on your balcony. I do not have any measurements for these Emerald deck balcony sizes.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your cruise!

Below is a link of photos which helps explain the tiered balcony design from StuartM:

I'm so confused.

We are looking at Sun Princess to Alaska. It LOOKS like all the balconies are stacked not tiered?

and all are covered (or partially enclosed it appears).

Is this true?

Thanks

The Sun class ships standard balconey cabins are all covered and private - which is exactly what I like.

I'll be taking my first cruise with Princess this summer to Alaska on the Golden Princess. I've booked a balcony stateroom. Does anyone know which decks have covered balconies on the Golden Princess?

Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated.
