Midnight Writer Posted May 15, 2009 #26 Share Posted May 15, 2009 Hi all, So, I thought it would be fun to see how everyone spends their days at sea. We usually get up early, eat, go to the pool, eat again :) and then around 4pm we are usually looking for things to do before our late seating dinner. Just wondering how everyone else passes your time... Thanks!! On my sea days I will be making jewelry, My business for anyone who wishes to watch and learn or make some, i also plan to selling some of mine, since they do cost money, why not make a few bucks too. The kids love to make bracelets, if they make their own then it will cost them 10.00 less. or I will just read a book or work on my newest book I am an author also and I have written many stories using my pen name so I will be looking for more new characaters for the next sequel to the Cruise Ship Murders? Would you be next?
Midnight Writer Posted May 15, 2009 #27 Share Posted May 15, 2009 I have to plan out my sea days or I go insane. I am a very active person, and I feel trapped if I don't have a game plan. That plan usually includes relaxing by the pool, but I try to get out early and do that before the crowds encircle the pool. I also choose itineraries that have no more than 1 sea day (for a 7 day cruise). I see Mokaheena no cruising this year? WHY is that? I was hoping that you was going to be on the same ships we were going on maybe the same dining table so I can pick your brain.
dukeysmom Posted May 19, 2009 #28 Share Posted May 19, 2009 On sea days, it seems we spend the most time planning what, when and where to eat next!
mr green Posted May 19, 2009 #29 Share Posted May 19, 2009 On sea days, it seems we spend the most time planning what, when and where to eat next! I was told on a tour one time that that is what Hawaiians do. It seems like not a bad idea!:D
texaridian Posted May 22, 2009 #30 Share Posted May 22, 2009 I LOVE to play games--I'll run from Trivia, to the golf putting tournament, to the casino for a little time on the machines, back to another trivia game, go watch bingo or horse racing, catch the Newlywed Game, play in the ping pong tournament... Some ships have stuff to do all day long. Others don't have quite that many activities. On those ships I just grab a book and find a place to read, but in reality I people watch or just nap. Oh, yes, sometimes I like to play Scrabble with my family, or a game of cards.
MustardStation Posted May 28, 2009 #31 Share Posted May 28, 2009 Usually, I am woken up by my mother around 8:30-9 (crack of dawn!), we grab breakfast at the buffet, and then we set up camp by the adult pool. My sister gravitates around every single pool or water slide or last year on Liberty of the Seas, the Flowrider. I do the same, though I generally take breaks to do other things throughout the day. Then we get lunch at the buffet and repeat the morning. Around 6, we'll start going back to the cabins in rounds to shower and get ready for dinner, then we go to dinner. Afterwards, we do anything there is to do! It's a good time. I love sea days!
numberguy Posted June 7, 2009 #32 Share Posted June 7, 2009 Oh, yes, sometimes I like to play Scrabble with my family, or a game of cards. Part of my ritual? Trying to see how many decks of cards are incomplete, how many checker sets are missing checkers, how many Scrabble sets are missing letters . . . Frustration and fun, both at the same time! :p --Michael
calico79 Posted June 7, 2009 #33 Share Posted June 7, 2009 I have only been on one cruise and the friend that I went with has been on many and she talked about how she likes her sea days, so our 8 day cruise had 4 sea days! I found out I liked them as well! We would be up pretty early and get ready and have breakfast and then spend a good bit of the morning in the sun and usually be there til early afternoon and then we would have lunch. Sometimes during that time, I would walk around the ship to see what was going on. Then in the afternoon we would sit a the bar on the Lido Deck by the pool and enjoy foo foo drinks. Then we would end up taking a nap and then get up and get ready for dinner, but we would make sure we had a little bit of time to walk the ship before our late dinner. very nice and relaxing which is what I want from vacation! Our next cruise will also have 4 sea days!

DoggieDash84 Posted June 8, 2009 #35 Share Posted June 8, 2009 I'm afraid to ask...what is that? I was curious, too, so I googled it: http://www.usatoday.com/travel/cruises/item.aspx?type=blog&ak=54869244.blog It's basically a cruise for swingers to meet each other. Hey, sex sells. I think it's a great idea. I mean, I am not a swinger and wouldn't go on one, but to eaches own. For me...I usually sleep in (then again, I do this on most days), possibly workout (if I'm going thru one of those workout phases), eat, sit out (but not directly in the sun), explore more of the ship, gamble a little during the day - a lot at night, see if there are any classes/workshops that I want to take, maybe read, eat, eat, eat
timmy1958 Posted June 8, 2009 #36 Share Posted June 8, 2009 We always try to alternate - a "Type A" day followed by a "Type B" day. At sea or in port doesn't matter, and it seems to work for us.

BaseballMomof4 Posted June 12, 2009 #39 Share Posted June 12, 2009 I usually really like to explore the ship on Sea Days. When docked we always have something planned off the ship, so on Sea Days I like to see what the ship has to offer. I really enjoy a quiet cup of coffee in the library just gazing out the window, then maybe take a stroll through the shops, check out the clubs, hit the gym, that kind of thing. As a Floridian, I am not as worried about tanning, but if it is a lovely day sometimes I will sit out by the pool for awhile with a book. I enjoy these days because often you miss out on a lovely area of the ship because you never take the time to explore!

zstell Posted June 15, 2009 #41 Share Posted June 15, 2009 I LOVE sea days, our last cruise had 5! I get up and walk/jog a mile and then meet my family for breakfast on Lido. Then, sun and read. We are so busy at home, I enjoy doing very little on those relaxing days. Meet family for lunch, go to the gym for a short 30 min. workout, sauna and then get ready for early dinner. Sometimes, I am lucky enough to even get a nap. The rest of the family?? Not really sure what they do:)

Senoj84 Posted June 25, 2009 #43 Share Posted June 25, 2009 Sleep late, get breakfast for late risers, have a late lunch, watch a cabin movie, go to the lido deck for any live bands or games. Attend seminars if they're interesting. Soak in the jacuzzi. Go up to the top deck & watch the water & take pics. Attend some dance classes that I find interesting. Order room service. Eat dinner in the dining room & go to the shows. Hit up the 24 hour ice cream machine 5 times through out the day.

capncarp Posted September 28, 2010 #45 Share Posted September 28, 2010 --Wake up when my body decides I've had enough sleep. --Watch the sun rise if I'm up early enough. --Breakfast with DW in the MDR or by myself through the buffet. Share table and conversation with new people. --Walk around the ship and explore. Watch the beauty and spendour of the ocean. --Check out trivia, or workshops, or shows available for that day. --Grab an iced tea or cup of coffee and read in the shade by the pool. --Snack as needed. --Shop with DW at the ship's store. --Use the spa hot tub with DW--the one that has really powerful jets--to simultaneously tenderize and parboil my body. --Cruise through the casino and lose a little money (no illusions here!). --Get into long debate with DW over where to have dinner--MDR, Specialty Restaurant, or buffet? --Have dinner, meet new people. --Check out any special programs going on that evening. --Try the Frou-frou drink of the day, using my souvenir cup to get a $1 discount. --Go to one of the clubs, listen to the performers, and even try to dance with DW and stay vertical while the ship is moving in unique directions and rhythms. --Find the all-night eatery and grab a snack. --Compare notes with DW. Jot down some notes in journal to remember the trip by. --Collapse into bed, listen to the gentle creak of the ship, and feel the motion as she rolls through the waves. --Sleep. RVP cruiser Posted November 4, 2010 #47 Share Posted November 4, 2010 Get up around 10 go to the bar, get a bucket of beer and take it to the balcony. Enjoy beer with cigar on balcony then go to the casino.Eat once or twice during the ritual. I have to admit- Im right down with your style. Only change would be- Hennesy instead of the beer. MiamiSpartan Posted November 22, 2010 #49 Share Posted November 22, 2010 Frankly, those are the days we look forward to the most! We sleep in until whatever time o'clock.... We get up, and go to the coffee bar, and then maybe off to breakfast if they're still serving.... Find a shady spot by the pool....get out our books, and iPods....read a bit...nap a bit...people watch a bit...talk a lot....head over to the spa for treatment....sit in the hot tub a bit...I usually get the gym around 3pm, which is a good time to go, since everyone else is by the pool... Some trips have had wine tastings, martini tastings, cooking classes, etc.... Might take in a movie, another nap...a game of Scrabble, etc.... Usually around 5pm, we'll head to the room to get changed for the evening.... Cocktails usually starts around 530 or 6pm....Dinner at around 7pm....late show....My partner will head to the room after the show (which he hopefully stayed awake for the majority.... :p )...I'll go pick up a couple of cigars and head to the lounge to finish up the night.... Basically a wonderful day of doing what we want with no schedule....
