BillyMetz Posted April 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 9, 2009 Who does laundry while on a cruise? You are supposed to be relaxing. Do the laundry when you get home.
helpmesailaway Posted April 9, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 9, 2009 I love doing laundry on the ship!!! My NO quickly turned into a YES because it takes a short time and I don't have to pack a heavy bag:D And - I have laundered on the Star - have fun!! Woodmnky Posted April 9, 2009 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2009 I would recommend bringing your own change and detergent as on both ships that I have sailed the machines that dispense these were periodically broken. I plan on doing laundry at least once, if not twice while on the Star to Alaska as it will help keep the suitcases lighter.
Sailingpeace Posted April 10, 2009 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2009 We used the laundry facilities, machines available on our second try ( 30 minutes after the first one) Only when is St-Petersburg -Rusia (overnight) they closed the laundry facilities ,but we were told in advance. Why use them : travel light and wear clean and fresh clothes !
woohooTOO Posted April 10, 2009 #8 Share Posted April 10, 2009 I was told that you were supposed to pack enough so that you could carry home lots of clean clothes along with the dirty ones. Did someone tell me wrong? We seem to do that evey trip. We have vowed to bring only enough clothing for one week of our two week cruise. We'll either take advantage of the laundry service or wear smelly clothes.:p But then we will be in Australia. Who would notice. We are really looking forward to the trip. Do the Australians really serve their beer warm?
gozzieboy Posted April 10, 2009 #9 Share Posted April 10, 2009 Hi woohooToo We Australians object to smelly Yanks (and any other nationality). Its people like you who get Americans a bad name so ammend your views and if you want to walk about stinking then so be it but dont inflict it on us. No we dont drink our real beer warm justanother rumour started by Yanks who are used to fizzy tea in Beer bottles. atlasali Posted April 10, 2009 #12 Share Posted April 10, 2009 Now, now gozzieboy and woohooTOO, let's not be nasty! I will be cruising for 30 days from San Francisco to Sydney beginning in September. I can pack for a week, but not 36 days! We will, for the first time, do laundry while on a cruise. Fortunately, there are sea days. This Yank will not be smelly when we dock.
rfrobins Posted April 10, 2009 #13 Share Posted April 10, 2009 What currency and coin denominations are needed for the coin-operated washer and dryer on the Star Princess?
Jeepers385 Posted April 11, 2009 #14 Share Posted April 11, 2009 What currency and coin denominations are needed for the coin-operated washer and dryer on the Star Princess? We used quarters (US). They also have dollar changers in the laundry room to give you quarters.
Eaglecw Posted April 11, 2009 #15 Share Posted April 11, 2009 We were on the Star last year and I found that the least used Laundromat was on the Plaza deck, port side forward by room P212. No one ever there. All the other laundromats were packed, I used it twice.

chsalas Posted May 18, 2009 #17 Share Posted May 18, 2009 on the last couple of cruises, the 3rd of 4th day, they offer a special on laundry, it was $20 for whatever you can stuff in one of those bags. Just FYI, you can stuff alot of underwear, t-shirts and short.
