NCL's Post Cruise Survey

We just recieved a post cruise survey from NCL. We found it interesting that Cruise Critic was mentioned in one of the questions.

 

Maybe NCL does care about what is written here??

 

Here is what the question said:

 

How would you rate the information you have received about NCL while you were researching customer review's online from websites such as Cruise Critic, Trip advisor.com etc.

We got that survey also and my husband commented on how many questions they asked. I spoke a lot about cruise critic. Having spoken to Prem, Raj and Captain Frank on the Gem I know they all have access to the info on cruise critic, and appreciate all the positive input. They encourage that if you notice something on the cruise that you are concerned with to call them immediately. They gave us all their phone numbers at our cruise critics meet and greet. Great crew, fabulous ship. We plan to sail her again next March.

At our Meet and Greet on the Jade, the officers made it very clear that they read cruise critic and pay attention to what is said. In fact they were so emphatic about it, we laughed. Nancy

We were on the March 8th sailing of the Pearl and had a fabulous time. We are of the mindset that any day at sea beats a day at work. However, there were a couple things that we thought NCL could improve upon, especially the debarkation. There were also many items for which we wanted to applaud NCL and the fine crew of the Pearl. We thought that we would address both via the on line survey. We have sailed on multiple cruises using multiple cruise lines and they all seem to value customer input at the end of the cruise.

 

Much to our surprise, as soon as we responded that we were not the primary person responsible for choosing the cruise(we travelled with another couple who actually selected the ship and itinerary), the online survey ended and did not let us have any input. I am sorry to hear that the main (and seemingly only) purpose of the survey is to find out how and why that particular cruise was chosen. I would think that customer feedback regarding all aspects of the cruise by all people on the cruise would be something that NCL was interested in.

I just completed our post cruise survey from our cruise on the Spirit last week and I too found it interesting that NCL asked about cruise critic...

I was also disappointed there was not room for more comments concerning speciality restaurants, crew, etc...

While I found the crew to be totally outstanding, I found the hotel director, food and beverage director and the captain to be totally lacking in social graces and knowing anything about hospitality...

They were totally unlike any of the other officers we have sailed with in our previous 11 cruises on NCL...

We had almost a hundred people in attendance for our cruise critic meeting and the hotel director and food and beverage director were late and probably would not have even attended if it had not been for another officer calling them to tell them...

On our other cruises, the hotel director has always handed out his cards with his phone number and said to please call him if there was anything he could do...

While he said he read cruise critic, I have my doubts or he would know how other hotel directors run their ships. It is a damn good thing, they have such a good crew or he would be long gone...

We found before we got off the ship that apparently he and the food and beverage director took care of some passengers with extra perks, while ignoring others.

I am just so glad we had the butler that we did. We had him on a previous cruise on the Pearl and he was outstanding. He more than made up for the complete snub by the hotel director and food and beverage director.

I don't mean this as sour grapes, I am just saying when you pay big bucks, you expect to at least be given a little more consideration.

We loved the Spirit, except for the extreme vibration in our suite, but we will probably never sail her again... but will go back to the bigger ships... where there seems to be much more hospitality...

Oh yes they do!! If you go to a M&G while on the ship, they make it plain as day that CC means quite a lot.

My cabin stewards on my last cruise (Star) told me they had 28 cabins to take care of and 6 of them had CC members in them.

They are VERY aware.

 

For everyone who thinks the post cruise survey doesn't give you enough space or opportunity to express certain views, PLEASE write (via old fashioned snail-mail) a letter to NCL in Miami. They read the letters and they do listen to comments and suggestions :)

Mine mysteriously got deleted! I took the time to fill it out, (which by the way took quite some time) and I assume since I gave the ship I was on terrible scores, they erased it! I was emailed another one a few days later asking me if I had forgotten to fill out my post cruise survey. It happened to a few of my friends that were with me as well, they took the time to fill it out to express their dissatisfaction and theirs too was deleted. I guess NCL only wants to save the good survey's!! We've all decided to write letters and mail them, very frustrating!!!!!!!!

I plan to do just as you suggested - a snail mail to the NCL corporate offices but I doubt I ever hear anything from them....

 

 

I have gotten a phone call and/or letter each and every time I have written, for each and every cruiseline I have sailed.

Internet isn't reliable as far as I'm concerned. If you want to get your comments heard, old fashioned mail is the ONLY way to go.

I do suggest constructive, well written criticism as opposed to a letter that sounds like a rant. ;)

Sometimes I think that there are so many emphatic posters on this board, I often wonder if they are on NCL's payroll.

In regards to Tideone's comments - we did the meet and greet on Spirit on the Mar 22 cruise, and all the officers (except the captain) was there, and they did give out their business cards with their phone numbers. There were only about 20 of us there.

We were also invited to the Captain's VIP party and thought him to be a most gracious host.

Maybe with a 100 people at the meet and greet, they were overwhelmed and didn't have enough business cards to hand out to everyone.

We did make use of the card and called the hotel manager about an incident and they took care of it.

That's the type of letter I planned on writing. There were 48 people in my group that were unhappy about various things. (ie; while we were at the pool in our swimsuits, there were workers right next to us in hazmat suits sanding, painting, varnishing, and even welding!!! Oh, I forgot to mention the jackhammering they were doing at the pool area at night while we were trying to sleep below.) I would just like to know why these things couldn't have been done while we were in port, when there are less people around!

I had written Carnival a nice letter about how much we had enjoyed our cruise and I got a great letter in return and they offered me a free gift on my next cruise. A bottle of bubbly! What a nice surprise. We have now sailed with Carnival 3 times. Next we are trying NCL out of NYC to Bermuda. Can't wait!

After each of my letters to both CCL and NCL, they sent me a letter back offering 'gifts' on my next cruise....nice touch

RCI, responded by phone to my comments but offered no gift (which is fine, I don't write letters to get free stuff)

I too was surprised that there was not final "comments" section to give an explanation of my answers as well as kudos for certain crew members.

 

We sailed the Dawn on 3/28 and had a wonderful time. Even though I prefer the Jewel & Sun, that is mainly based on the ship's lay-out, not the staff on the ship and wanted to be able to explain that.

 

We did get to meet the hotel director, Hugo, and he was wonderful. He cares about his employees and knows how to run a ship! He understands that in order to make your passengers happy you have to make sure you have happy employees. And that is not easy to do on a cruise ship where they work so many hours but the staff seemed to have a lot of respect for him.

 

We were fortunate enough to be selected for dinner at his table and were able to pick his brain and have long interesting conversations with him.

 

Actually, a very large percentage of the CC group was selected to have dinner with one of the officers or the captain. And it was a great experience.

We were on the 3/28 sailing as well. I did not stay for the entire meet and greet but the CD and a few other officer were there fairly early on giving out business cards. The night we were to leave Costa Maya and were delayed, the Rest. Mgr. came to our table during dinner to explain the vibrations to us and gave us his card if we had any problems.

 

Later in the casino there were several officers explaining to would be gamblers why the ship was not leaving port and were very open and accessible. I think when I got home I unpacked four different cards from officers.

 

The comments card was a bit different and I had no problems with mine being kicked back. The area at the end asked for 1 main area of improvement and of course I just ignored that and made my comments. Although, I believe it did limit you to a certain number of characters, if you were concise and abbreviated, even a windbag like me had no problem getting my whole piece in.

 

The next day I called the public relations number in Miami (?) because I had a specific issue I wished to address and chatted with a lovely lady. I got a nice email a few days later.

 

After 32 cruises I've written quite a few love notes :rolleyes: to the cruise lines (always very lighthearted and respectful although addressing a serious concern) and the only line who has never written me back was Carnival.

 

I think the lines look at the cards very seriously - they want people to be happy, especially now, because they need the business.
