eddieg07410 Posted April 25, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2009 Our ship will be arriving in Dover around 8:00 AM and leaving about 8:00 Pm, in the beginning of July. We originally thought about going to London but abamdoned that idea when we found out how long it would be traveling to and from port. The ships tour excursions around Dover seem pretty pricey, and I would like to hear of suggestions of tours to take, perhaps run by private groups, that might prove worthwhile. Our cruise is set so we will have another shorter day in Dover a few days later. Thanks
Globaliser Posted April 25, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2009 Two things to suggest. The first, close at hand, is Dover Castle. The other is to go to Canterbury. It's only 20-30 minutes away by (frequent) train, so very easy and cheap to go to and do on your own.

Wendy The Wanderer Posted April 25, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 25, 2009 I will second the idea of Canterbury. Very walkable and very historic.
handfordr Posted April 28, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 28, 2009 If you want to stay in Dover for the day there is a tour company that combines bus and boat touring in a one day package of Dover and Folkestone or alternatively Leeds Castle and Canterbury in one day. They are based in Dover Harbour so are quite convenient Dover White Cliff Tours
