Can someone please tell me how much it is for the drink cards? and also do you have to get the card for the whole cruise? or are there other options.

Also, do they have complimentary orange juice for breakfast?

Thank you

Yes at breakfast they offer traditional OJ, and a version of Carnival's OJ- someting like Passion/Guava/Tang, and some days Apple Juice. After breakfast hours it is changes to Lemonade and Ice Tea.

If I recall The "Fountain FunCard" card is $6 per day for adults and includes a 15% gratuity...Like others said, wait until you leave port, so you avoid tax. Even if you aren't a big soda drinker, it also includes cranberry, pineapple and orange juice - Not bottled water though.

Carnival offers to sell an insulated thermal cup too- it is nice, but does not have a handle, and does not hold that much IMO. I prefer bringing our own insulated thermal cups/mugs (A must item). The mugs no matter what beverage are great for pool side or in cabin.

Well, of course all Victory questions don't HAVE to be posted here. It's just that there is already a ton of info in this thread, all in once convenient location, so reading through the thread is very informative. At least, that's the idea behind these ship-specific threads.

Naturally, there are lots of people who just want to post their individual personal question and have it answered. But then the thread disappears off the board fairly quickly and won't be of any help to future cruisers, will it?

You can buy Carnival $$ and have it applied to your card or receive certificates that you then take to the purser's desk and apply to your S&S account. Details are on Carnival's website. I haven't done it as but did consider it and had a look. It's in the section where you can purchase gifts and services.

We went to Coki this last time in St Thomas. Click on my name and you can see the threads I started. I always write a thorough review, and my Victory review is mainly about San Juan and the various ports (since we did very little on the ship due to the port-intensive itinerary). Maybe it will be of some use to you.

Just checking in on a COLD MI morning, and looking forward to my January cruise. Someone asked if you could buy beer in port and carry it back on. Yes, we have done this often with no problem. We've only put a 6 or 8 pack of local beer in our carry on. My brother did carry on a case but I'm not brave enough to try that. Unless things have changed, try it. BTW, there is not a refrig in balcony rooms on the Victory. We brought a small, soft sided cooler that worked well. Our stewart was good about putting ice in it. My cousin found the ice machine and used it often. Used the cooler as our carry on bag with camera, etc. packed inside.

  • 2 weeks later...

We are leaving in couple of weeks boarding Jan 17 and staying on for 2 weeks we are so excited to do our first B2B cruise.

The dining room on the first night is served at what time?

Carl Bird is our cruise director for January, Is he any good?

Does the Victory have the omelette stations?

Thank You

Yippee we are going in less than 2 weeks and I am trying to do a map for the children- can anyone who has just sailed tell me what side of the boat do you see islands passing by you? From the look of the map that Carnival gives you it looks like you go counterclockwise in this trip? so the islands would mostly be on the staboard side while cruising? I understand that each port you have to reposition to come in, but the main sailing looks like you start at San Juan and then travel with islands on your right hand side and then back up with islands on the right hand side... I hope I am making sense??? Just want to draw a map for kids! Thanks so much!!!!

Upon check-in you are given a slip of paper with your first night dining room and dining time.

Thereafter, you use the assigned seating.

We just came back yesterday from a great cruise.

The dinning room was open i believe from 530pm-900pm on the first night

We had Karl (with a K, as he puts it) He was not bad, funny and energenic.

Yes, there are omlette stations at the buffets and at the Deli during breakfast. (but there are line ups)

Mike,

I am not certain that this is correct. On our voctory cruise (sept 25, 2009) we were not given any slips of paper for the first night. We just showed up at the desk in the dining room, gave them the number of people in our party and were shown to a table. You could show up anytime you wanted to between 5:30 and 8pm i think.

Our first night dining experience was like SmogMonsters. Open seating, casual dining was offered at both Diningrooms from 5:30-8:30 pm. We were not given a slip of paper indicating first night dining time and table number, we simply showed up at the desk in the diningroom and were escorted to a table.

Also luggage express (valet) service can you tell me cut off times for earliest flight?

Thanks.

I have a question about this to. I have read the other posts, do you have to take your carry on through the USDA line and if so is there any advantage other than not having to haul your luggage around to using the luggage express. If it is not saving me a line I am wondering if it is worth the price.

Luggage express is really helpful when entering ports in continental US-never having to see them from midnight in hall until home ailrine luggage claim area. In San Juan you claim bags- then walk thru spot you hand customs declaration then say 50yards to designated airline checkin counters. No need to drag luggage to load in cab or check in. In San Juan that can save a lot of time. We have always stopped at USDA with carryons and I'm not sure what the actual rule is, but my own experience is that sometimes the person operating the USDA station wants the carry on bags to go through the USDA x-ray while other times the operator didn't want them to go through. Perhaps it depends on the size of the bag? Max line there has been 15min- vs what can be really long lines at checkin counters. Hope this helps. IMO I will use Luggage Express anytime I qualify for it, the express service also provides boarding passes.

I still have a question about San Juan Luggage Express flight cut off times.

I read in recent post it was 2pm. I recall years ago it being noon. Any update? Perhaps it is harder to get luggage to their airport and screen?

Just hoping it is noon as that is airport most conjested time to check in post cruise.

Oh now that sounds great. If I can get my boarding pass on the ship and avoid the check in counter all together that is VERY WORTH IT!!!!

Thanks!!!

We did luggage express on Sunday as we got off the Victory.

As of last week, 2 p.m. was the cut off time.

I have mixed feelings about it.

Cost - $20 per person plus the cost of the baggage charge by the airline.

Boarding pass and luggage tags were delivered to our room.

PROBLEM - If you have a connecting flight, it is possible (maybe probable) that you will only get the boarding pass for the flight out of SJU NOT for the connecting flight. So, what's the advantage if you have to check in to get the connecting boarding pass anyway?

ADVANTAGE - You don't have to carry your suitcases into the airport and check them thru USDA and then stand in line to check them in.

PROBLEM - You do still have to carry them through Customs and Immigration at port pier then down the pier to recheck in with a "man with a truck." Another problem for us was that the sticker said only SJU-ORD - once again no connecting flight info on the sticker. We were thus nervous handing our luggage over with no connecting flight or final destination proof. The man with the truck assured us he would put new stickers on at the airport. He was true to his word and we got our luggage, but we were still nervous.

Yes, your carryons do need scanning by USDA. So you have to stand in line to get those done anyway.

There were 4 of us, so we are not sure if $80 was worth it. We still had to get our connecting boarding passes, we still had to do the USDA line for our carryones, and we still had to carry the bags down the pier. My husband says it was worth it cuz we didn't have to carry the suitcases into the terminal, but a porter would've been only about $20, right?

Thanks for updated info. Last time we used same type of service was RCI and no carrying down pier or "man with truck" ours was more airline counter right at luggage area, but we were at other port RCI uses. We too had tags showing only connecting city, but verified with concierge and airline and bags made it.

Best thing to do then-- pay for some internet time and get boarding passes on own to save a bit of time, or use kiosks for check in. Don't foreget to scan bags though as to have to get out of line to get stickered. Our flight for now is prior to 2pm so not an option anyhow.

Thanks for detailed post. CC members are so helpful to give info to allow us answers at our fingertips!

does anyone know if Victory has a photo machine to burn an XD type ( the small one ) camera memory chips to CD? i usually bring my laptop to do that, but i want to leave it home this time. i'm trying to " pack down " this trip.

Hi there, I just came off the victory and asked the same question... no they don't have that ability. I think they're not so eager to work with your pictures when they're trying to upsell their own photos.

Have fun!
