Just Back from our 1st rcl Cruise

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just made it back from our sail on the Freedom of the Seas. I'm not much of a review person, but just wanted to touch on a couple of things.

We never saw any of the Negative stuff we read about prior to leaving. ship was beutiful, staff were all friendly, shows were great ,food was A1(reading here i thought we were going to have problems), 2 of the nights I asked for 1 of 1 thing and 1 of another, was never a problem.

IMO ...I am starting to think that alot of people get treated how they treat others:rolleyes:

We had MTD and the 2 waiters and their assistants that took care of us were Great, the Head of MTD dining section Chris went out of of his way everynight to make sure that everthing was fine. Maybe because we had a 6 and a 11 year old with us we were never longer than 1 hour at supper, also we never waited more than 5 minutes for a table.

For any familes feeling adventures you really should try the amazing race. We were all ready to passout from exhaustion but it was one our favorite times of the week.

Our room attendant was great , always a nice smile and a hello.

My 6 year old daughter was able to be on stage for the show "once upon a time" she loved that, it was for maybe 1 minute but she was back stage and really thought it was "awesome"

With only Disney to compare with, Our kids Loved Adventure Ocean over Disneys kids club. ( I think it was because they each met Friends on the 1st and 2nd days)

This gave us a hours here and a hour there for some needed Mom & Dad time which was nice since we did not have that on the Disney Ship. A few of the times when went to get them at 9 ,they would leave because they were having so much fun.

All and All it was definetley our best Family vacation and will not be our last RCL cruise. My 11 Year old keeps telling me about whats new on Oasis.

Cheers

You may have a point with this statement. ;)

What a refreshing viewpoint! So glad that you enjoyed your cruise. The Golden Rule is still quite powerful - even on the high seas. :)

Also while on the subject- what is Quest? I always hear rave reviews of it but noone ever says what it is.

Not explaining Quest is the first rule of Quest.

You have to just go and see for yourself.

My 11 Year old keeps telling me about whats new on Oasis.

Look out! CruiseRCCL might have a run for his money as the youngest CEO of RCCL!

There's a young gentleman of approximately 14-15 years of age on here, with a screenname of cruiserccl. He is quite knowledgeable of many things RCCL, particularly the Oasis. Sounds like your 11 year old might end up being the same way!

I'm so glad you enjoyed your cruise. My first RCCL cruise will be in December.

What's the Amazing Race? Is it just on Freedom? I've not heard of it and love the tv show.

Can't tell you what Quest is, but I can you tell, you DON"T want to miss it!

Oh how I envy you! We have always wanted to try Freedom since Samantha Brown did it on the Travel Channel! But we will be trying the Mariner next February which will be our first RCCL! I'm glad you had such a great trip! I too am curious about this Quest thing, guess we'll just have to go! Answer me this though, is this something your going to want to show up very early for? We don't mind grabbing a drink and waiting an hour, but always good to know ahead of time. How was the Casino? Did they have fairly up to date games? Thanks!!!

Thank you for posting your review. You've put my mind at ease with regard to the kids' program. My children also enjoyed the Disney kids' club and I've been afraid they might be let down by Adventure Ocean. Instead it sounds like they're in for a whole new adventure!:D

I'm so glad you enjoyed your cruise! :)

PS: With regard to "Quest," if people really want to find out more, try Google-ing it. If you want to keep it a surprise, just know this: from what I've read, it's for adults only!

I think I may have called it amazing race when i should have called it the ultimate race (smart as.. 11 year old corrected me) it is at around 3-4 oclock on a port day (for ours it was GrandCayman) it is based on the TV show and since it's on a Sea day there are fewer passenegers on the ship.

For us there were 5 teams of 4-5, you start off with a clue taking you to a part of the ship, you do that challenge or answer the question and you get another clue and go from there.....you have 1 hour to complete 10 challenges or as many as you can. When you get sooooo poooped you want any elevator, and guess what...it will have 6 people on it everytime going to all the floors (murphys law) so we get out and start chugging it up and down.

it really was a blast, we didnt win but as a pat on my back;) I did the rock wall in 1 minute 18 sec's (then my 6 year old carried me for the rest of the race...lol)

Also, partipate in Quest if you can, it's hilarious

1 last thing i forgot to mention..... of all the cruise we've been on, Richard Spacey has been the best we've encountered. I hope RCL is treating him good, because there is alot of opputunity out there for a man with his ambition and talent.

Cheers again
