Difference between balconies?

Recommended Posts

What is the difference between the different categories of balconies, i.e. D1,2,3, E1,2? I know the Es are a little smaller than the Ds, but is there another difference between them? And how different are, say, a D1 and a D3? There's not a huge price difference, $200 from E2 to D1, but hey, that's another $200 for the casino!

A D cabin *does* feel more spacious than an E, but not by a lot. The extra length of the cabin allows room for a full size sofa instead of a loveseat. Other features are the same.

Now, the numbers. To a limited extent, it refers to location on the ship, and the desirability, but not completely.

For instance, on the Explorer, the D3 cabins are all on Deck 6, which is not the best balcony deck on that ship.

D2 are all for two passengers.

D1 will hold two, three or four passengers.

E1 can hold up to four; E2 can hold only two.

All D's are the same size. They are larger than E's. All E's are the same size. On some ships, the E's will have slightly larger balconies than D's! You really need the deck plans in front of you when booking...the deck plans show sq. footage of both cabin and balcony.

The balconies on the aft (back) of the ship are big... but I've heard here on CC that they're haunted. ;) Pretty hard to come by, also. Do a search for "aft" and you'll see. Also, check out the website www dot cruisedeckplans dot com

What!!??!!! Our TA recently booked us in 1404 on the Freedom. Please tell me that we will not have any unexpected guests while we are enjoying our extra large balcony. Is there plenty of room for them and us? Are they friendly? Will they be enticed to join our party if we have a perpetual bucket of beer on our balcony. Please, please tell us....what should we do to make our experience bearable???;)

Deck 14? You are brave, or not afraid of heights. Enjoy the wonderful view. However beware, ghosts normally rest at higher altitudes :DI can't go higher than deck 8, heights are not fun for me. Enjoy your cruise. Kaboochi

It is actually Deck 10, but the highest stateroom deck on the Freedom. Maybe the ghosts will rest on the pool deck, or better yet, in the lounge above the pool deck.

I do believe that I will try that perpetual bucket of beer though. If they don't show up, well, it is my gain. :D
