rpertusio Posted May 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2009 Hi all, I put this little video together, collected from all the webcams I know of. I condensed an entire 'day' of the Freedom of the seas in Port by speeding up the video. I hope you find it interesting! I plan on doing the same for her return, but who knows if everything will record properly. EDIT: If this link doesn't work, look for a new post in this thread for a new link. (I may delete the above video and put Freedom's departure AND arrival into 1 new video. If I do, I'll provide a new link.) Enjoy :) - Ryan

Texas Teen Posted May 23, 2009 #8 Share Posted May 23, 2009 How did you do that?!?!?!?!?! Surely you couldn't have copied & pasted webcam images ALL DAY!!! Can you please tell me? Making a timelape is hard work! Trust me, I've made Timelapses!
rpertusio Posted May 23, 2009 Author #9 Share Posted May 23, 2009 It was my first video I ever made :-P I did it as a surprise for my wife and her mother, who are sailing on that very ship right now, so I learned quick! It wasn't easy. It took me 6 days of 'tinkering' to get it right. I recorded 5 of the webcams (the ones at sea) with VLC player. (File -> Convert/Save...). The Port Canaveral webcam, I recorded the Windows Media stream with Orbit Downloader. I then used a trial of Adobe Premiere Pro (my first time ever using it). I just 'cut' the clips, and inserted them. Then 'stretched' them shorter with the 'rate' tool. Glad you like it :) - Ryan

It is incredible to watch them turn the ship around and in your video -- she SPINS!!! She just glitters first thing in the morning!!! Also, DH would love how quickly she leaves port via your speeding up the video --- he's always so anxious to have them open the casino!!! I tease him about the captain needed to exit the port at slow speed or he will be dragging the ship behind him!!! LOL!!
Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted May 24, 2009 #12 Share Posted May 24, 2009 Just loved that fabulous video! It makes me want to go on Freedom right away. We sailed on her when she was just a month old. I would love to try her again.

BTSEN5 Posted May 24, 2009 #18 Share Posted May 24, 2009 This is too cool. I cannot wait for my 13 year old to get home. He will just love, love, love this video. He is a YouTube addict as it is. I love the turn that the ship makes when coming in, and the fact that you can see a lot of wobbly movement as she slips close to the pier and then when she is released to leave out of Port. Exceptional job!!! Thank you.
rpertusio Posted May 25, 2009 Author #19 Share Posted May 25, 2009 I'm glad everyone likes the video :) Good news! I was able to capture Freedom of the Seas' return to Port Canaveral on May 24th. I'll be uploading it to YouTube shortly, and will provide a link here when it's done :) (And BTSEN5, you'll get to see the ship spin again, but this time from the Port Canaveral AND Radisson camera :) ) Hope your son liked it. FYI, this is more for the Disney boards, but I also had some decent clips of the Disney Wonder leaving on the 17th of May, so I made a clip for the Disney fans ;) Disney Wonder (17 May 2009): Stay tuned for Freedom of the Seas' return to Port Canaveral video! - Ryan

rpertusio Posted May 26, 2009 Author #24 Share Posted May 26, 2009 Ok. Got it! I finished putting together the return of FOS to Port Canaveral on May 24th. It isn't nearly as 'elegant' as the 1st video, as the person controlling the camera couldn't keep their fingers still ;) (Sorry if it was any of you! :p ) Freedom of the Seas - Returning to Port Canaveral, FL - 24 May 2009 Hope you like it :) Notice the T-storm in the background at 45 seconds (0:45) - Ryan

Thanks for all the work. We usually get up early on a cruise to watch the ship docking (I think it is part of the cruise ritual now) and this gives us a great perspective.
