After cruise pkg. on Azamara Journey 8/7/09

After our cruise ends we will be travelling to Madrid before heading home to the states. Since we only have 1 1/2 days there could anyone suggest the best hotel or neighborhood (centrally located) in which to stay.

If you want "the best," it would be either the Ritz or the Westin Palace which are both located in walking distance to all the museums and attractions.They are both 5 stars. Next choice would be the Villa Real.:)

Both of those hotels are excellent but pricey. If you would like something a bit more reasonable and still excellent for both location & accommodations, check out Palacio San Martin (also 5 *):

It is between Gran Via & Plaza Mayor/Puerta del Sol on a quiet square (ask for a room on high floor with view on to the square)
