I hope I and see some pictures! It's also supposed to be "haunted!" I think it's the 5th floor of the hotel that is supposed to have a lot of paranormal activity. It's one of our favorite hotels and I've never experienced anything but a wonderful, old, hotel full of history!
Rare Host Kat Posted August 16, 2009 #57 Share Posted August 16, 2009 If you are into ghost stories, ask for room #505. http://www.galvestonghost.com/galvez.html Also, check out the supposedly haunted portrait of Bernardo de Galvez. http://www.hauntedamericatours.com/museum/hauntedGalvez.htm I enjoy watching their Lobby Cam with the hustle and bustle on cruise departure days. Makes me even more jealous that I am not going too! http://www.galveston.com/webcams/ Kat
karenh1127 Posted August 16, 2009 #58 Share Posted August 16, 2009 I never knew The Galvez was haunted! We have stayed there too. Galveston is alot like NOLA, there is a rich history and lots of "ghost" stories. My dad got a book from a place on the Strand that is about haunted places in Texas. Galveston has its share. Where the Walmart is located now on the seawall used to be the old orphanage and employess say early in the morning the toy department had odd happenings. Toys fly off the shelf and no matter where the relocate that department, it still happens. Even though I dont really believe in ghost, I love all the hoopla surrounding it and always watch those ghost hunters on tv. Is there a "haunted" tour in Galveston? texas greeneyes Posted August 24, 2009 #61 Share Posted August 24, 2009 Anyone have information about La King's Confectionery and/or Fullen's Waterwall Restaurant? They are/were two of my favorite places on The Strand, but both have been closed since Ike. Would love to hear that either or both still plan to re-open. CGBCruiser Posted September 8, 2009 #73 Share Posted September 8, 2009 I hope so, too! And I hope if Rhapsody does come back, she will be here year-round!!! :D I've heard rumors that RCCL is bringing a ship back to Texas year round. Someone had mentioned possibly a Radiance class ship but I'd be happy to have Rhapsody back. I would love either one! We definitely need more than one cruiseline sailing year-round on the Texas Gulf Coast.
